Two days in the simulator for Massa

Maranello, 17 February – Felipe Massa has had two very busy days yesterday and today at Maranello, working in the simulator in preparation for the Barcelona tests.

The Brazilian will be back on track this coming Thursday, 23 February, when he will take over from Fernando Alonso at the wheel of the F2012. “In the meantime, I’ve been able to try the car on the Catalunya Circuit, at least on the simulator,” he told www.ferrarif1, before hitting the road home to Monaco. “The past two days have been very interesting, because we ran both on the track where the new car has already run, in other words Jerez and then on the next circuit. There’s a lot of work to do to fine tune the F2012 but, as both Fernando and I said last week, I think this car has plenty of potential. It will be important to do a lot of kilometres next week, because we have many ideas we want to try out and it’s essential we don’t have any problems: I know that on this front too, the team has worked assiduously to ensure that me and Fernando can do a lot of laps. I’ll say it before we even start: again this coming session, we won’t be looking at the stopwatch, especially as you can never know what your rivals are running. The truth will only begin to emerge in Melbourne.”

I don't think anything there suggests that we are in crisis mode. If anything we sound like we're playing our cards rather close to our chest.

excellent article defending and defining the attributes of a good driver. Alonso is always considered to get everything out of a car while Massa is content with what the car can do for him. Every team has a rough element in its driver line up.. RBR- vettel and Webber.. vettel being the one getting the max out of his car while hamilton for mclaren, schumi for mercedes and kimi now for renault. Massa, Button, Roseberg and likewise... In certain circumstances, these calm headed folks take control.. which totally depends on the circuit and the climate and also the handling.. therefore there is no let down for anyone.. everyone has a fair chance and Massa for us need not worry about Alonso, he just needs to concentrate in pulling himself together. I'm sure it will only take so much as to one race victory or a podium to trigger his confidence.
