    Vettel's new finger gesture !

What Karthikeyan received from Vettel at Malaysia was unlike Vettel.. A man who has often clinched poles and converted them into victories in 2011 has had rough times in the first 2 races this year while Alonso and Massa struggled through 2011 didn't show a glimpse of such attitude sure proves there actions speak louder than such behavior.. Go Ferrari.. Vettel sure is not a cool and composed figure while on this context Button proved he is.. comments?

Drivers get frustrated and sometimes it gets to them. Nando did something similar to Petrov in Abu Dhabi in 2010. Yeah, it was uncool and a bit silly but they can all do it.

While the gesture was wrong particularly given the fact that the collision was his fault, it's not fair to single out Vettel. As Sian said, all of them can throw the odd hissy fit here and there, with all the adrenaline pumping in the heat of the moment, it's understandable.

As long as they don't pull any stupid maneouvres on track to get back to the other driver in some way (which has happened in the past), we shouldn't make a big deal out of it imo.

I agree with the previous two posts. I know that it's always difficult for them (drivers) to control all this adrenaline into their body. But they should always keep in mind that there are also children watching F1 and their beloved heroes racing. Nothing else...

I agree with you there. Though I think the more important implication is that it shows how Vettel is coping now that he no longer have the easy advantage he used to have. Now he finds himself having to fight for position with other drivers.

As far as i know Fernando didn't show a 'finger', just raised his hand like saying 'well thanks a lot' meant in a sarcastic way (i suppose). At a moment when he lost a championship. He got slaughtered for that gesture in the english forums, but there is always a difference between what Fernando does and any other driver does- anyway, Vettel is not being called 'Fingerboy' for nothing

Giving the finger is one thing but calling another driver an 'idiot' or 'cucumber' is certainly not cool.

Well then what do you people expect him to do. Go up, kneel down on his knees and say "Narain, I'm sorry I lost my cool by giving you the finger and calling you some not-so-nice names, I will never do it again." Then bows ??

This shows that Vettel is like any other driver, and not the whiter than white driving god that many people made him out to be last season.

Also, it's not the first time he's acted like this.

I don't see the big deal. It's all done in the heat of the moment and it doesn't make me think any less of a driver; they are still mere mortals like the rest of us. I bet most of us have done something similar when out driving, and we're not under even half the pressure these guys are.

Vettels actions are in the heat of the moment and even the great drivers have done the same, however his words show his lack of temperament. Even Massa and hamilton were more civil to each other and didn't resort to petty name calling/bullying when they had their incidents. When the hit the fan, this guy has shown that he can't cope.

Particularly given Narain's explanation, why'd Sebastian have to veer to the left like he did? I disagree with the penalty on Karthikeyan.

excellent video upload by Nisko demonstrating how not cool and composed Vettel really is... It is one thing to lose calm in the race and completely another to keep it going even after and blurting it out to the press. It is completely ANNOYING to hear another driver referred to as an Idiot... i'm loving it though.. vettel is feeling the heat.. Grand prix racing is not a piece of cake..

Vettel was wrong, he was already frustrated from before giving hem the finger and then when he passed he just tried to squeeze him off. Like on the road you have idiots that do that...When you are cruising on the highway and some idiot doing 200 km/h comes up behind you, and you don't move out of the way soon enough, when you do he tries to squeeze you off.. So the only Idiot that can't keep his calm is Vettel... He's again showing his true face, Vettel is just a little boy with a bad temper... And needs to mature... And how Horner is behaving doesn't help him.... Horner is really a case apart...

Alonso matured after he joined Ferrari and lost the 2010 title....

I an understand Vettel's reaction when he was in the car. He knows he is not in the same position as the last two years, and then you get a puncture. Of course at that moment you never blame yourself but the other guy.
    All very understandable.
But after the race, being a professional, you go and have a talk with the other guy and you keep your mouth shut against the press.
But hey, Seb is just still a youngster and he has to learn a lot about life I suppose.....

Seb is clever, because next time then they will get right out of his way, much like Senna and MS used to do, bully other drivers and they knew their place.
