Costa says Ferrari lacked ’style’ over sacking

Mar.25 (GMM/Inautonews.com) Aldo Costa has revealed he is unhappy with Ferrari’s comments in the wake of his departure last year.
The Italian was stepped down as the famous team’s technical director, and he switched to Mercedes before the German marque made a significant step forwards with its 2012 car.

He has remained quiet about his treatment by Ferrari until now, telling Autosprint magazine that the Maranello marque lacked “style and professionalism” as it handled its restructuring.

Asked for more information, he said Ferrari explained “things that not only myself but also the whole world of formula one knows is not the truth”.

Costa confirmed that he was referring to Ferrari’s suggestion that he lacked “creativity”.
Still, he said he is not happy to see his old team struggling to make it into Q3 with the aggressive F2012.
“I still have so many friends in Maranello, but now I want to be 100 per cent engaged on succeeding with Mercedes.”
He said the Ross Brawn-led team has a “different” approach to Ferrari’s “that makes it easier to do things”.

Remember, Aldo wouldn't really be able to make an effect on the w03 until the next upgrade package, and guess which bit he'll be concentrating on.. yep.. suspension.. he was the one back in 2006/07 that was good at sorting that out at Ferrari, and Brawn obviously knew that.. could make some big in-roads once Costa knows what to do.

When restructuring happens always someone goes and someone comes. The one who goes isn't the happier person in the world and always thinks that it wasn't his fault.

Aldo costa only can work under other people supervision.. he should be happier in merc because brawn lead the technical dept not him. So the burden is not on his shoulder as when he was at ferrari.

Aldo proved he can be a good designer as witnessed by the speed of the F150 in Silverstone. The only problem was that he was slow to adapt to changes. It had good aero balance without the blown diffuser but the ebd gave so much more downforce aero elegance didn't matter as much. The F150 was easy on its tires in a season when it didn't matter so much because of the compounds and difference in speed between new tires and worn tires. Just never seemed to come to grips with the new F1. However now that EBD is gone, I bet Aldo's cars will be quick again.
