The situation what made this action controversial is a non English team favoring a classic German guy. When Mclaren did it in Australia it was all okay. There wasn't a big buzz about it.

Oh no, never, Massa for sure would refuse his salary and any other money due him as would any of the other drivers. Stay with a team and drive free, Or give up your ride, quit, Never think about the financial consequences to your family. Team orders?? I quit!

Very true. I still can't believe a team player like the chin didn't tell the midjet to leave Rubens win his race and take 6 instead of 10. Like you say, pass the ball, instead of disgracing himself and Ferrari to the world.

If I'm good in maths it's now about 10 years passed?
Why he speaks now and not earlier?
How is bussiness going? (whatever is his occupation now)
Does he try to make some publicity around his name?
Perhaps but also I don't care.
Ferrari did the right thing then as every team would do, so I don't get where is the point and what he is seeking now!!

Well he wasn't that slow dude, he sure as hell was faster than the chin that race , the midjet had to team order him to get that bum up front.

You being good at math, how many years since the chin won a race? Whats he diong in a Merc today? Is he trying to make some publicity for Merc around his name? For sure he ain't there to win anything. And they already have a great German driver in Nico.

Personally i think they should have fired him right after that race, he was the most ungrateful driver and least loved by Ferrari fans anyway.[/QUOTE]

Fire the chin for being ungreatful? Never happen even though I agree with you he should have been fired right after the race if for anything, for disgracing Ferrari and Ferrari fans. Remember theres a big difference between Ferrari fans and the chins fans. Even here today how many would love to see him beat us? That's not a Ferrari fan.

the title of that video, hilarious

Never liked the guy, never liked Irvine as well, also not liking Massa much atm. First two proved that my initial thoughts about them were right, Massa, not sure yet but I think he will join this band. It's something about those drivers, they put themselves first and team second, and if team forces them to do otherwise they will revolt or hold their grudge till time comes. You won't see much of this in other teams, and that is probably cos relations there are more professional. Here in Ferrari it's more family like and with that comes drama, ego wars etc.

How could you not have liked Irvine.... damn, he was one of my favourite drivers of the past 20 years.... the moving chicane.... he was a blue collar racer, didn't have the most talent but always gave it his best.... and yeah, he liked to mouth off, but it made F1 colourful at least lol....
Rest in Peace Leza, you were a true warrior...

Massa having a forming grudge against Ferrari? WOW! He would have to be a damn good clown to pretend to play faithful and loyal in front of everyone over the past couple of years.

Actually, Eddie said several times that driving for Ferrari as number 2 was better than going further down the grid as number 1. He was also on local TV in NI a couple of nights ago, discussing the 1999 season when he almost won and saying how Ferrari were a special team. I am not sure why you believe Eddie put himself first, revolted or held a grudge?

OMG Get your facts right. At no time did Eddie Irvine put himself first. He was often critized by Jackie Stewart and others for being too laid back and not ambitious enough. I remember him in an interview where he was asked about moving to a team where he could be team leader. Eddie looked at the interviewer and said” It is better to be a small fish in a large pool than a large fish in a small pool”
He always seemed happy to have pay increases to help buy his "toys"
He did step up to the plate when opportunity knocked in 1999. LOL

As for Massa how could anyone classify him as anything but a team player?????

If you sign your contract as a No.2 driver you must stay a No.2 driver and not suddenly have ambitions to be No.1.
If so you leave and sign and a new contract elsewhere.
That's what a man would do.

Me too, although some drivers I keep liking (not supporting) even afterwards. Irvine was one of them. Will never forget what he said about Schumi after Malaysia 1999, "this guy is depressing! not only he's the best no.1 driver but he's also the best no.2 driver. The interest of the team is above the interest of the driver and that's why for me the WCC is more important than the WDC.

Irvine was great... not the best driver, but I really liked him.. and he had some great drives. Also he somehow had it figured that he was the second best driver on the grid next to Michael.. it was a long convoluted formula that he used to justify this.

Brembo man, no one else is using derogatory terms.. maybe just use their names instead.
Look at your post and ask the same about Rubens. Who do you believe is in the better position?

Thing is, he was under contract..Employed by Ferrari, driving for them made him wealthy
and comfortable the rest of his life. Sure, it didnt look great when they told him to let MS thru,
but thats what he agreed to. Nobody twisted his arms to sign the contract. Nobody made him stay as long as he did.
Ive always liked Rubens and his racing. Not sure why he's coming out now and blasting his old team. Regardless of
the situation then, that was then, why yell about it now?

Oh, and there were quite a few, actually, a lot of Minardi fans in Italy.

Being at Merc with his countrymen has to be rewarding, being in a position behind Nico with regards to points has to be killing your boy. Just look at what lenghts he went to , just to pick up 4 points from Rubens! Not a great position for the champ at all to be behind the young German driver. But IMO it's all about publicity for his true love, Mercedes. Rubens is driving Indy with his fellow countrymen Tony Kannan and Castronieves, traveling a whole lot less and with his family. Not a bad position to be in. Oh! And no more team orders.
Rubens was affectionatly known here as "The Pensioner" untill your boy took over in his 40s. No harm meant. What's the first thing you notice when you look at your boy's face? Whats the first thing you notice when you cant find Todt at first? No harm meant.
Anyway, nice hearing from you again. The best to you!

On the subject of publicity, how about Ferrari doing donuts on the Great Wall of China!
