The flap that surrounds the diffuser has two curve on it, above the two major vertical aero piece in the diffuser.

And the diffuser itself, looking at those two major piece, at the top of it there's a slight dip, rather than just straight

Main difference I can see is in the horizontal piece across the top of the diffuser. On the old version, it's completely straight but on the new one, it's 'wavy' across the top.

Also if you look at some of the vertical vanes (look at the join to the bar mentioned above) you can see they're a lot more curved in comparison to the old one.

Indents in the gurney and shallower sides which prob indicate expected greater flow there. Guessing but perhaps changes in the wheels to effect the negatives from the wheel motion plus more from the Acer ducts and perhaps somehow the flow from the new exhaust - which to me is directed to the beam and perhaps the top of the diffuser is also getting to the side.

I hope it wasn't, but you have to wonder if Alonso's lap was a PR run.

Boosting confidence by setting best times in FP1? I cannot understand. Wouldn't be the disappointment even greater then 2 days later? All this does no sense to me.

Felipe's time doesn't look too bad compared to previous GPs. - good
Fernando is in Spain, so his time could be set on lower fuel to please the crowds.

I srtongly believe that FA wanted to have a good lap thus, he did just that, a good lap. Don't forget, he runs in his home country.

Probably testing something. That happens on too low revs where the car is on the edge of stalling. The same thing when you see learner drivers kangarooing down the street

If we have well and truly recovered a whole second, this would be the best come backs in modern F1 ever in my opinion. But lets wait for qualifying and the race where it really counts. It's looking good though, in previous FP1 sessions Ferrari have always been a good 0.8 sec off the pace, and today they were approx 4 tenths ahead, good signs...
