    Pit stops

Ferraris performance in the pits has been enviable and so it was again in Canada. The three pit stops their drivers made were the fastest three of the race.

In a remarkable display of speed and consistency, the three pit stops were within 18 thousandths of a second of each other. Deeply impressive

They have been doing a terrific job all season. Stops like those make a huge difference and it certainly seems like everything is coming together. Can't wait for Valencia!

Our pit stops this year have been exemplary

It's a shame that they don't really make the difference in races as much as they used to though thanks to the blinking tyres

Lewis won in Canada despite a tardy pit stop. The tyres decide the races more than the pit stops this season.

Agree 100%. Understanding tyres behaviour and knowing their limits is more important than anything in 2012. This doesn't devalue the inportance of our engineers effort.

Great progress there, but I really think even more important is the progress we show in terms of race strategies. I know it's maybe not the best time to mention it given the mistake we made in Canada, but in comparisson to previous few years and not forgetting all top teams made many more mistakes tilll now, I think the new fresh minds in Ferrari's race strategy department do great job.

Strategies also must be supported by a little dose of luck (safety cars, yellow flags, weather etc). One of these can spoil or not your strategy.

Yup, Ferrari's stops in Canada were almost a full second faster than the McLarens...
    Massa's first stop was 3.2 secs to Hamilton's 4secs. That's a lot.
Hope Ferrari can capitalize on this as the season goes considering how close the teams are this year.. I think it will all pay off in time. Pit stops, check... Strategy, check.... Driver's ability, check... Development pace, check... Car's raw pace, almost check. When this last piece clicks in, it's going to be phenomenal.

IMO, had Ferrari pitted Alonso on the same lap as Lewis for the 2nd stop, it would have allowed Alonso resume right behind him.

While the 3 seconds gap is big on track, in the pit stop, a little jerk as a car attempt to leave the pit box could easily cost 1-2 seconds. Not to mention McLaren's pitstop work itself still isn't as smooth yet.

Hell Alonso might have jump Lewis.

We seem to have developed all areas especially in pit stops. Also strategy is ok out except Canada pit stops.I think we are in a reasonable situation and i hope we will return next race.I am looking at previous years we were bad in pit stops, tactics, development race, chance factor...But in 2012 things are going very well for us.Fastest team in pit stops,starts,kers,improving...We have done a big big job comparing to last year and i also must point out that we have chosen a radical car desing.Good days are not far away mates

When the tyres play such a big role in a race, a 3 or or 5 second stop is no big deal. Drivers were catching Alonso at 4 seconds a lap but Alonso did end up finishing 0.4s ahead of Nico so those quick Ferrari stops did pay off in the end
