2012 Canadian Grand Prix - Race thread

Here's to a fantastic race by our boys, let's see what we can do from these positions on the grid

I believe Alonso and Massa can do much better than in Monaco, as they are starting even higher up the grid this time.

Anyway, for the championship, I hope Alonso still finish ahead of our rivals at the end of the race. It will be hard, with Vettel looking strong and Louis in between. But who knows.

This the first race of the season where I genuinely can hope for a Ferrari win. Alonso did it in Silverstone 2011 to mark tribute to Ferrari's first ever win 60 years back & I will be ecstatic if he does it again to pay tribute to a legend in Sir Gilles Villeneuve

Going to be a long day of nerves waiting for this. All I ask for is a clean race and that we get around the first corner with our cars intact.
Just looked at the Sky coverage in the UK and it is from 5.30pm to 10.15pm - any rain delays and there could be a few sleepy people in work tomorrow

One big problem, Italy play Spain at the same time as the race!!!!!!!!!! What will Italians do, what gets watched live, what gets recorded OR do you have two TV's or picture in picture to watch both? If Spain take the lead when Alonso comes in will the pit crew tell him to change his own tyres

Dare I say on a Ferrari forum the football will take priority, more emotion runs through a game of football than a F1 race, unless they play like they did against New Zealand which means I will not even watch the recorded game!!!! I am still angry about how lethargic the team was in that World Cup and the amount of young new players they left out the squad!!!!!

Cheers Greig, I checked again and its the programme starts at 17.30, and hour and half of build up to the race. Looks like today could be a great day or a really crap one depending on results :)

Both drivers in the podium, it's that possible?, I'm a little scared of the start but forza Ferrari and let's hope the finger boy is not miles away after the 1 lap, like he usually do.

I think we're looking at Alonso P2, Massa top 5.

Kimi did manage to stay close to Vettel and mount a challenge at one point at that race where Vettel won. So I don't think Red Bull will just run off into the sunset.

Of course overtaking is another different matter. We saw how difficult it is in the Alonso vs Mal race.

Critically, both Ferraris, the Mercedes and Red Bull cars all got through into Q3 using only one set of the super soft tyres. Button had used all three sets of his – he flat spotted one set and lost them – and was vulnerable to a last minute attack from Maldonado, but the Venezuelan hit the wall in the final corner and that allowed Button to go through in the top ten.

On the football, thanks guys, I thought the Ireland Croatia game was on at 5.
I love football, but watching the F1. These 'big' matches rarely deliver, will be a borefest!
    F1 for me.

Podium for Alonso is fine. The main thing is we are about level to the top teams on pace now with 13 races to go and with getting great points at the start this seems the best year since 2008 (hopefully a 2007 outcome)

Should have something in place for repeat offences ie if parts are removed 3 times in a year you miss a race.

I have a bad feeling about today... Hopefully it's only because the weather we are having over here.

That's just because of Catalunya. Here in Montreal we've got that long back straight, carry the momentum well through the chicane you can probably have a shot at Turn 1 too. Catalunya with just that one straight, not a chance.

Massa is a fast starting car himself!

Just hope he doesn't get involved in an incident like he did in 2010.

I am worried that Alonso can not overtake Ham at start and loose time behind him and then can not attach Vet for win.

Fernando will overatke both in front of hin until lap 3. I could bet 10000 TSN cash.
