Alonso and Lewis together again..could you imagine?
Alonso and Lewis together again..could you imagine?
I found a different take from what was said in that press conference in the PF1 forum (post by Zpectre):
"Some bits of Livio Oricchio's latest post. Oricchio is currently probably the most well-regarded motorsport journalist in Brazil and writes for "Quatro Rodas" magazine and "O Estado de São Paulo" newspaper, among others.
Quote:
As we talked, Alonso and Vettel had to explain themselves. The Spaniard, of course, ensuring he wouldn't have any problem sharing Ferrari with the German. Lies. And to the Red Bull driver, in the same way, "it would be a pleasure to race alongside Fernando". Another lie.
Do you think Ferrari would run the risk of seeing Alonso desestabilise himself and perform worse when seeing Vettel is very capable, to the point he could beat him? They aren't dumb. And I know of people very close to Vettel, which know very well what they say, spend time with him, that he would never accept to swap Red Bull, where he's a leader and has excellent environment, beside the insurance of relying on F1's best designer, Adrian Newey, for all the uncertainties of Ferrari in Alonso's feud.
(...)
Alonso said in the FIA interview that he takes part in Ferrari's decision about their driver lineup. That's what you just read. "In the past, never. Now at Ferrari, yes. I'm in Italy every week, sometimes I see our president (Luca di Montezemolo), talk to him, Domenicali, about the car's development, the future of F1 and also about teammates", the Asturian told.
But he was clear in the answer to whether he would be heard if he said he wanted this or that one. "I doubt it. Our talks are very open, but in the end it's their decision."
The Brazilian journalists told Felipe Massa what Alonso said, to hear him about it. "Fernando is very respected inside Ferrari for the results he achieved, it's natural he takes part on decisions about the driver's lineup. We have a good relationship, I know he pushes for me, but what matters are results", he said.
"That's what will make Ferrari renew my contract or let me go to another team." He (Massa) didn't answer if he has already contacted another team. "My best option, now, is results." But he confirms what he said to the German press: "If I must race for a small team I'll do something else." Sauber is small? "Medium." Could be an alternative, although I don't believe it. I have a great relationship with the team. We travel together in Swissair. From what I hear, it would be a surprise to see Massa there.

I would trust more on what Reginaldo Leme than on Livio, and it's just too interesting to me that Felipe himself, but even more so, the Regi Leme and Galvao Bueno camp they are just as close as they can be, their entire families, and lately not just felipe but also these guys have been in a better mood about the prospects, before everybody was alot more worried, just as everybody could see from Felipe's face.
I'm very curious, that's all i am risking to say, i would just say that EVERYONE in Felipe's camp knows how much it means for him to stay in Maranello ( i guess that would be to everyone) and it's too strange that right about this month to everybody else, it was a certainty, that Felipe was going to lose his ferrari seat at the end of year at least, now i am not 100% sure this is going to happen.
From some comments thrown here and there during the races on the brazilian tv (and more), it sounds alot like Ferrari was able to figure out why Felipe seemed to be having such a hard time, almost like there was a momment in the past month during those extra working days in italy, that the team would have reached one of those "so that's why!" momments, and it wasn't down to Felipe's fault, like it wasn't him making mistakes, or under performing as a driver. And again remember that together with Rob and others from Felipe's side of the garage, there are driver's performance technicians, so it's not like felipe simply became a crappy driver, if he had Ferrari would know, they wouldn't have wasted their time trying to fix things for him, as they have been doing.
Anyway, very hard to get the information out completely from Regi leme, Luciano Burti and Galvao Bueno (globo tv) cause they might be the only F1 reporters/transmission team that actually keep some hot information that comes fresh directly from the source, they don't let the info out, even if Felipe has told em, or other people from Ferrari, they don't tell it, since the team likes to keep these things to themselves and only reveal it when the scuderia wants.
PS I'm just relying what i been catching from these guys, the same thing i did here when felipe had the accident, trying to be as reliable and useful as i can to the rest of tifosi here![]()
The art isn't in never falling but in always getting up.
ALSO, it's good to point out this, because this may seem like dejavu BUT Felipe's situation at ferrari right now, compared to Rubens time, a total different atmosphere, never you hear not even a bit of complaining, and accusations of unfair treatment, which with rubens was the case, ferrari would never worry too much if rubens wasn't comfortable driving the car, with felipe it's the total opposite, fernando might be the driver that scuderia has big plans for, but at the same time, somehow, they are working in many ways to make sure that Felipe also gets taken care of. to me it just doesn't seem like the behavior of a team that has given up on the driver.
The art isn't in never falling but in always getting up.
Thanks Poltergeistes, as always it's nice to hear stuff about what's being said in the Brazilian media![]()
Forza Jules
YW, again... these comes from the sources that are very close to felipe, this is why i think i need to give you guys these info. they are as reliable as it can get.
So if felipe keeps performing like he has done in the last 2 races, alot of grit, we might still have a small chance to keep seeing felipe driving alongside with fernando at ferrari for a little more time.![]()

Alonso will never be on a team where the other driver is capable of beating him..
No number 1 driver, Vettel, Ham, will join that team.
Its going to be Massa.
All it takes is the driver believing he's capable of not only beating Alonso if allowed to at Ferrari, just knowing they are WDC drivers , they won't go near Massa's seat. I don't think Perez [Carlo Slim$$] or Maldonado [Hugo Chavez$$] would want the seat either. If he can finish in the top 10 the rest of the year, Senna's my choice if ever Massa wants out.
Senna is stinking up the place at Williams, no thanks![]()
Forza Ferrari
Unfortunately you are right. But he does have a few points and his car ain't that cool. He will take orders for sure just to be in Red.
Both Perez and Maldonado would jump at the chance to be in a Ferrari. Why the hell would we want Maldonado? Perez will be considered if he has matured sufficiently in time but Maldonado choosing NOT to drive for Ferrari? Seriously brembo man, what is it that you sit and smoke when you post on TSN?![]()
"Luna faccia schiaffo testa"
I just don't believe Chavez would go for it. His boy taking team orders. I know you know he can't come to Ferrari thinking he's going to have a shot at passing Alonso if he ever had the chance. He got a taste of being way up front, Hugo and his driver feel he's got a shot at winning races. We don't allow that kind of thinking @ Ferrari. Were cool with Santander$$, Chavez can shove his petro $$ up his nose. Io siedo e bevo vino, mai fuma.
Just call people by their names brake disc boy. It's easier for the rest of us even if it dilutes your eccentric writing style somewhat.
Ferrari wont be wasting any of their chassis on Maldonado (except the ones he hits I guess) so its pointless you debating if he has an opinion on joining our team. Ferrari are worried that Perez is a liability, so letting the Reverend (Pastor) in one of our cars would be as pointless as giving the second seat to Kobikrashi right now.
"Luna faccia schiaffo testa"
Whoever deserves it, takes it.
That is usually happens in Ferrari.
IIRC Eddie Irvine once said something about being Ferrari #2 driver where his response was something along the line of "And do what? Go to another team, be #1 and constantly finish 5th or 6th?"
It gives us an insight to how the drivers see things as. And Eddie was right, there's no point being number 1 if you do not have the car to achieve good results anyway. Even drivers like Rubens managed 2nd in the WDC, which still beats the rest.
"If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari" - Gilles Villeneuve
There's allot of races left. Like I said IF he can finish in the top 10 the rest of the year the stink will be gone. Please know I want to see him do good, I was a big time fan of Ayrton. I want Massa where he is with Ferrari.
