Great news if it's true and Felipe is re-signed for another year at least, he seems to have got his mojo back and he deserves to stay in F1 at Ferrari level, even if his results this year don't show it. Shame that the Italian media and public seem to have given up on him, they're all just about Fernando, but maybe things will change now that he's scoring points again. And the pitlane wouldn't be the same without the Felipe and Rob double-act, they make a lovely couple!
Media and public usually focus on the main driver in the team since they are the one who often comes up when we talk about the title fight and all. I'm sure many talked a lot about Massa when he was fighting for the title, and also when he was recovering from his accident.
Point is, people only talk when there's something to be talked about. Apart from Massa's end of contract this year, there really isn't much for the media to talk about regarding Massa. And I don't think its such a bad thing either.
35 races without a podium finish.
Most in Ferrari history??
.
I don't know, is it?

I agree to a point but we all know what the Italian media are like and they have slagged off the team and in particular Felipe for the past few years, along with most other international media, some of it justified. That Felipe hasn't waivered from doing his best for the team and himself shows his dedication to the cause even if all the credit is directed at Fernando, but to keep saying he needs to be replaced is shortsighted when it's mainly the car that has been at fault.
Yeah of course, I don't mean to say its ok to slag off Massa. That's not right at all. I can see why if people are not talking about Massa that much for the reasons I mentioned above. And that's probably a good thing too because as you said, nothing good is being said of Massa when they talk about Massa anyway so its probably best that the media doesn't say anything at all.
Montezemolo nearing Massa decision
ESPN Staff
September 27, 2012 « Brawn all but admits Hamilton interest
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo says it will take "a few more days" to reach a decision over Felipe Massa's future.
Massa's recent performances have increased speculation that he will stay with Ferrari beyond the end of his current contract, having looked set to leave following a poor start to the season. With his contract running out at the end of this year, Massa recently admitted he would like to know what his future holds but Montezemolo said he wanted to see Massa maintain his recent form having finished fifth in Belgium, fourth in Italy and recovered to eighth in Singapore.
"I hope we keep up the performances we had since Spa," Montezemolo told a press conference at the Paris motor show. "[I hope] following Singapore's results we come up with a similar performance in Japan."
Having seen a new rear wing tested unsuccessfully in Singapore, Montezemolo added that any further updates need to be immediately effective.
"We need to improve the car, ensuring that any innovations we add to the car's design actually pay off on the track."

CAVALLINO RAMPANTE PER SEMPRE
The pressure is getting to me.
I wonder how Felipe is feeling.![]()
Forza Jules
Performance is how we got to be in 1st place, the car and driver. We did what we had to do, performance wise or we'd be out of 1st. Reliability wise, judging by the other teams with hydraulic , altenator. gearbox braking problems [ Merc needs BREMBO] were also running with two pretty reliable Ferraris, DNF wise for sure.
Point taken, although it would be nice to see some credit given to Felipe for his recent races rather than just implying it still isn't enough for him to be a Ferrari driver in 2013. He needs our support and I am sure he's fully aware of what's at stake, and this waiting game is doing my head in, let alone what Felipe must be experiencing!
I was referring to the on-track performance of the car, meaning power and handling, not reliability. You can have a high-performance car with low reliability. Just look at Hamilton's McLaren or Vettel's RB. The combination of Alonso, the F2012's remarkable reliability, and our opponents' lack of reliability is the reason why Alonso is leading the championship. I don't think anyone here would deny that SF has the slowest car out of the top three teams in contention.
Disappointed Since 2010
Massa will stay next year. It is too much of a gamble to bring in someone new before 2014 when the new rules kick in. I'm hoping to see him racing up front in the remaining races.
Year 2000: R.I.P Formula 1
It doesn't just come down to what happens on track, though. Yes obviously that's a huge part of it and we all want him to get podiums, but there are other factors that Ferrari are going to be considering too - like Massimo said in the latest video that Felipe's very good on the technical/development side. Not to mention that Alonso gets along with him and he's completely integrated into the team...
Here endeth my latest Massa propaganda post![]()
Forza Jules
If Massa gets a new contract it has absolutely nothing to do with what happends on the track. If Alonso prefer Massa so be it. That is more what keeps him in Ferrari. His Results? What results?
VERY SOON - "When there is nothing signed yet there are no guarantees, but I do not think it will take much to get a clear view of the situation. Now I just think to continue in Formula 1 as a professional driver, with the potential to win races. And the chances of that happening are very good, "concluded the Brazilian.
he is coming back to his good days of driving, as a ferrari and massa fan, i dream of having a season with felipe driving the ferrari like he did in 2008, we then would be having 2 championships home!
thats the felipe saga, call it an opera or what have you, everythin about felipe massa is like bipolar!!!!
The art isn't in never falling but in always getting up.
According to f1 direct Massa signed for another year at Ferrari!
http://www.f1-direct.com/formule1-fe...?info-f1=13159
I agree with you, F2012 has remarkable reliability, your right, just look at McLaren and RB. I just believe we ain't all that slow performance wise, Alonso gets from anywhere to the podium. 5th pos. is like pole to him and his wheels ! Massa also came up front, in the top 10 from way way back. That takes performance , not just the other guys laclk of reliability and bad luck, which Massa had his share of this year.
