Personally, most of the "driver-only fans" here make me sick, but I can live with it. What makes the team strongest is what I'm looking for and if it means replacing a underperforming driver, so be it. Hell, they have done it many times before. I enjoy fair and hard racing and seeing Ferrari win at the end, that is all that matters to me, in a perfect world their wouldn't even be a Drivers Championship, only Constructors.
I myself am a Ferrari fan, though i grew to like more one driver than the other (Felipe) in the past few years. I think most of the tifosi are here like that. That's what i ment by saying "Felipe fans". There's always a line between being not happy with someones performence and being a jerk about it. If ur not happy with Felipe, then okey, say that ur not, say why and move on. But some people here went all the way downgrading the driver, making fun of him, not showing even a cent of respect, completely crossing the line. I personally expect more from the members of this forum.

You may have a point mate. I really wish he had won that WDC. I am still haunted by it.

I think Massa is just being honest. If you ask me who's available out there to take Massa's seat next year (and do better of course) who are on the same level of experience, I'd have trouble coming up with an answer too. Vettel is signed and Lewis will probably stayed at McLaren, both drivers of which Massa did acknowledge to be great drivers too. Button is signed too.

IMO, if Ferrari were to pick someone else, it will most likely be a young driver like what Stefano D have mentioned in the past about pairing up a young upcoming driver alongside Alonso. Otherwise, I can see Ferrari giving Massa another year and maybe see what happens in 2014 if they have plans for getting Vettel or some other stronger drivers.

Now that the car is competitive, we will see....

I, for one, have no problem with Felipe's statement. He has taken so much crap in recent years, I'm happy he finally snapped back a bit. Also, I still can't understand how anyone would think he would smash his Ferrari into the cars. It doesn't get much more ridiculous than that.

He should believe there is no one better for the job. I see no problem with that.

I am sure Ferrari have a Short List in hand and they have drivers in mind to Replace Massa. I see them hiring a Young Driver as they have been talking about. Di Resta, Hulkenberg and Many, Many more to choose from!

I am not throwing anyone under the bus! I am only stating ther obvious!

That is Massa must win big points for the team race after race for the remainder of the year if he has even a chance of getting a new contract for next year. There are many good young drivers on the grid, right now! Di Resta, Hulkenberg, Perez, Maldonado, Grosjean are just five new, good, young drivers in the field right now and any of them would be a very qualified, solid replacement for Massa who is still suffering from his accident. By the way, Massa made the statement that "No One Better On Market to Replace Me", not me! It is just desperate, foolish talk from a driver that has yet to vindicate himself after several years of very poor performance as a driver at Fewrrari. In the end, this is about driving and scoring team point! This is not about liking Massa as a buddy. If that was the case, Ferrari would sign him to a 10 year contract and just be smiling ear to ear. This is about Constructor's Points and Constructor's Money to fund the team. Massa is under-performing for a very long time now and that has hurt the team very badly. Ferrari as a "Brand" must be winning with two winning drivers that score high points each race, to maintain Ferrari's place in Formula One. I don't think Ferrari has any good feeling when they see Red Bull Winning for these past few years nor does Ferrari think very kindly at McLaren is carrying the march as well! Sorry, I am not such a lover of drivers and I don't idolize drivers as many of you do. It will be sad to see Massa go when it happens and I hav e supported him since his Sauber days but the Ferrari Team must go forward! I enjoy and have great pride in the Ferrari Team and that is First and Foremost to me.

    Ciao.

While I wouldn't mind seeing Perez, I got a real laugh out of you mentioning Grosjean and Maldonado! Where is Grosjean this weekend? Oh wait, he's banned! Where's Maldonado? Oh wait, he is penalized 10 positions because he's a menace who was already P1 before the lights went off at Spa! Are you even watching the same sport? (because just one of these little guys isn't enough)

    @ Giallo 550,

With all do respect, I have followed Formula One for over 40 years! I will agree that your comments are accurate to a degree. Young drivers do make errors and these are young drivers are still learning who have made errors. How many times has Lewis Hamilton crashed into other drivers since he first entered Formula One??? All drivers make errors and these driver made some of late. Schumacher made many error throughout his career, even after many years of driving. Your comments about these drivers I mentioned are just petty comments to rebuff my opinion of the situation regarding Massa's driving. Ferrari's recent statments have indicated they too are looking to a young driver for the future seat at Ferrari. They also indicated that a seasoned, mature driver like Fernando Alonso and the Ferrari Team would be a very good partner & teacher for a young driver. In time the young driver can learn from Ferrari Team and the seasoned driver and with guidence, experience and maturity, evolve the young driver into a seasoned driver as well. Any of them would be a good a hire for Ferrari to "groom" for the future. My personal feelings are that Massa has reached and past his prime. He has had a good, long run at Ferrari and has been paid very well over the year there. Maybe it is time for him to move on.

I get the idea of bringing in young blood, but neither Grosjean nor Maldonado are even remotely close to deserving a seat in a Ferrari and I can't believe anyone can claim otherwise after Massa qualified 3rd while the other two aren't even in contention for points this weekend. Saying they committed "some errors" is a HUGE understatement, yet you are substantially less forgiving when it comes to Felipe... Grosjean seems like a likable chap, but he has caused what, like 7 accidents this season and nearly decapitated Fernando last weekend? Where do I even begin with Maldonado? He's a pay driver who doesn't feel like there's anything wrong with his driving style. That doesn't fly when you're a cavallino. Ferrari is not the place where drivers come to learn not to smack up cars. I do think it would be interesting to see Perez at Ferrari though.

Fair enough. Your points are well taken. It will be interesting how things evolve.

I think everyone hopes Massa does returns to his wining ways and has very little of the consistly poor results we have so painfully witnessed for the past 2+ years. No one wishes Massa any ill will but the Ferrari Team has suffered in the vital Constructor's Championships these past years. Massa has been battered and bruised these past years since his accident and he can only combat the things that have plagued him these past years. We all wish him well no matter how things turn out. His 3rd place qualifying at this track is certainly food for positive though. Fernando alonso said knows he would have been on pole if it was not for the mechanical issue. That said, 3rd for Massa from how far he was back in qualifying all year, is an excellent step in shaking his troubles. Yes, positive thoughts!

Yea, if u look at it, Massa Q'd 3rd...I mean, isnt that great? Did he do a great job?
Some a youse guys are mighty confused...

And, isnt the car really improved? I mean, is it a fluke? FA headed everything till Q...
SO I really cant wait to see the car in action..

Hey Frank Alfa..everyone can be replaced...does that go for Fernando also?

It is harder to find a suitable "Top Driver" on a team than finding a replacement for a #02 driver on the team. Currently Fernando Alonso is not only the #01 drivewr on the Ferrari Team but he is also the #01 driver in ALL OF FORMULA ONE and that is very hard to replace.

Notice #1,000... No driver with WDC [real] potential wants Massa's #2 seat. Drivers like Grosejean, Pastor are not good enough. The chin . IMO again Massa's safe where he is. I hope to see him with us next year and then some. I remember how Rubens contract renewals were always given to him seconds before the deadline ! That's nothing new @ Ferrari.

I notice that some people are mentioning Shuey to
come back to Ferrari...MS was a great Ferrari driver and champion, but I dont think theres
any way in Haiti that he would ever come back, especially to be #2 to anyone...plus he and
    Massa are pals.
I really hope Massa lights em up tomorrow!

Yes, EVERY DRIVER CAN BE REPLACED! And they are all replaced at some point in time! This is the way life is. Finding the "best" replacement to do the job, that is another story. Most of the best drivers in Formula One History no longer drive in the sport and many have passed away. New, up and coming young drivers are trying to fill that void each and every year. Obviously, some of these drivers are better than others. Alonso was a new, upcoming driver 10 years ago. Just as every driver will have to retire someday; so to every driver has to start somewhere.

Today's race. A good example would be , if Alonso hopefully comes flying up front and needs Massa to move over and let him pass, he will. List the other drivers willing to do that.

    1. Lewis
    2. Vettel
    3. The chin
    I'll stop there.
