Weird that every car in Top 10 except Fernando's is powered by an engine other than Ferrari, wonder if that has something to do with the quali performance, as well as the tyres which seem to affect Felipe more for some reason. As long as they both get away OK and don't get caught up in any first lap mishaps, there's a chance of some points but strategy will be all-important. I can't face another Lewis 'thanks to the team' utterance, so rather Maldonado won if Fernando can't, and why hasn't he been linked to Ferrari, he has the speed but like Grosjean just needs taming. Not sure if I'm joking or not, but in meantime Felipe is still one of ours and wish them both well for tomorrow.

Maldonado is similar to Roman Groj IMO. They both are fast drivers, make no mistake about it. Put them in a good car and they can really take the car to its limit. And I really admire that in Maldonado and Grosj.

But they still lack the experience of actually racing other drivers when it comes to it. They still make mistake when they have to switch mode to fighting other cars. Top teams like Ferrari, Mc and RB cannot afford having a driver banging off his wings and wheels during a race as we are seriously fighting for the title. But I'm sure the top teams are watching these young drivers looking out for the moment when they show that they are ready to race at the top level, and they will want to be the first to snatch these talents up.

I still don't see a threat in there.

If you have a problem with someone's post to the point you feel like threatening them, report it.

Understand what you say but maybe that's what Ferrari needs if Felipe's face doesn't fit any more, and look at the points achieved by Grosjean for Lotus, who at this rate will definitely overtake us again in the WCC, as no doubt Kimi will come through tomorrow just as I hope will Felipe too.
Also for those using the thread as a table-tennis match, can we please just keep to the subject!

Some pretty unwanted people here I suppose.
Well, I haven't posted in a while cz, Its gotten boring everywhere.
I prefer watching the race and enjoying it.

Here's something I think people should now.

Ferrari is a team and they have Fernando as a team member. It was they who hired a driver who could take the car to places it cant be for probably times when the car isnt the best. It talks hugely about Fernando's skills BUT Also Ferrari's management. There's a balance. And this equation is getting better with passing time.
And as for Singapore, Alonso will finish in the top 2 for sure IMO. This circuit needs the driver to be better and even the best car here can be beaten as we have seen before.
Renault in 2008-2009 and Ferrari in 2010 and 2011 show Alonso does well here. So wait and watch.
4 down, 3 to go! Forza Sebastian!

Yeah it has already been established ALOT that the F2012 wasn't the fastest car to start with the TEAM has worked well to get us this far. So quite whinging or try elsewhere with your "support".

There is supporting Ferrari, freedom of speech and then being plain idiot.
I dont mind you calling me and some others who wish to call a spade a spade "idiots" but just think about what you've just said...."the F2012 wasnt the fastest car to start with"...i was under the impression that Ferrari design their own cars. Whose fault is it that the F2012 was a dud to start with?? Im sure my whinging sounds irritating, but lets not live in a lotus-eaters world....

I fully agree with Nova, and an end needs to be made to the bashing...but some people are flatly denying that there's a crisis, and thats rather sad, even if not surprising...anyway,does anybody know how well the other F2012 upgrades worked(barring the rear wing of course)...a new floor was also brought...did they try it out??

Most are fully aware we are not doing well enough, but also most realise race day is Sunday and all season long we have had a better race car than a qualifying car. There is no crisis.

Just arrived home... Is this our real pace?! With the this "lot of new stuff on the car" and on the track that should suit us (both based on team's comments)? What happened? Alonso was thining about pole didn't he? This is starting to look like a McLaren's year really fast now, with us not able to bring working uprgrades and them improving all the time... Oh well, if we'll lose the title twice in 3 years due to not so good development at the end of the season (2010 and now)... that would be very painful indeed.

I dno't know what is going on here, but I have to react here. McLaren has clearly better car in race than we (compared to quali) as we saw in Monza (at least). And they are our main competitors. And even RedBull was not bad in races. So yeah, we are probably better in race than quali compared to Williams, Force India, Merc and sometimes even than Lotus, but Maccas are way ahead of us.

We seen not a lot on Monza, Alonso was in traffic hurting tyres and still got 3rd, Lewis has clear running.

Oh I don't think it is a myth. We were not able to pick our pace up. We were not quick enough for the good part of the season and even at the end it didn't go better. We went great at Monza and even in Singapore (but it was incredibly close with Vettel) and from then we were lacking the pace compared to Bulls. They would have won every race after Singapore if there wasn't the "infamous" Korea DNFs.

Yeah, Alonso did hurting his tyres but Lewis admited he was cruising after Button stopped. He could have gone even quicker there is no way any Ferrari could beat him. There should be no denying of that.

Alonso thinks he could have challenged them if not the problem in qual, I trust him

Not true. We made a good progress after the half of the season which gave us great chance of winning DCC (of course with Alonso's skills as well) but we were outdeveloped after that. Not by great margin, but it was enough.

I believe in what he is saying almost all the time, but this seemed imposible. Even Felipe did great in quali and was absolutely not able to keep up with them. And I don't believe he was going "slow" for Aonso all the race.

Ok we were great all season apart from after Singapore. We were never benefiting from a fragile Red Bull. Red Bull took pole in 15 races out of 19.

I think Seb had a car problem in about half of the opening 8 races.

    really??....

“I’m very happy with pole position. It’s been a good weekend so far, but there are no points for today, and it’s going to be a long, tough race, so I still need to be cautious. I hope we’ve done the work we need to do to put us in a strong position for tomorrow – the key will just be to stay out of trouble and look after the tyres.

“Our guys at the factory have done an incredible job to bring our upgrades to the track this weekend. In previous years, we’ve often been playing catch-up on development throughout the season, but, this year, we’re right there.

“I’ve always believed that if we could start the season strongly, we’d be able to pull ahead. We’ve been there or thereabouts all season, but now I think we’re starting to see the real strength of my team pull through.”
