Different teams have different programs on FP1. If you have nothing new to test, then yes you can focus on setup and put in fast lap times. If you have new parts to test, then its a completely different thing going on.
We'll see a clearer picture in FP2
Marc Gené: Alonso's feeling don't match with data showed on computers about new parts.![]()
Flo vis paint on Alonso rear wing
Watchin Alonso's onboard, the car looks horrible..
The worrying bit is that Merc,Sauber, and Force India look quite strong too,and may prove to be quite a handful for the Scuderia....
Car looks terrible to drive.![]()
"The client is not always right." - Enzo Ferrari
Marc Gené: A lot of work to do. Technicians will analyse data about each new part for FP2.
yup, it's almost as bad as first race in Australia....ok, not as bad, but you guys get my point....
alonso has his hands full when he's driving the car with lots of oversteer and understeer issues...
let's hope the engineers collected a lot of data, as well as in FP2 we can improve the car even more with what we have...
otherwise it will be a long and hard quali and race
So 2023 started off bad, but managed to claw back some lap time come end of the year. Lets hope SF24 will give us tifosi something to smile about.
Alonso did a lot of parts (new, I guess) testing in FP1 today, probably did all the testing.
As for the horrible control towards the end, the tires have pretty much near the end of their lifespan so that may contribute to it.
We have to wait and see what happens in FP2
Lets hope they can tune-up the car for FP2..
BBC F1 technical analyst Gary Anderson
"In Singapore Red Bull ran a new front wing. The elements at their inboard end are twisted a lot more and go more horizontal. They have also taken the cameras from the front wing and mounted them on the side of the nose again.
"They have also changed the rear suspension. They have put more camber change into the rear suspension, so that as the car compresses more camber load goes onto the rear tyres.
"Normally if you haven't got enough camber change you have to put static camber on the car and that means you haven't got as good traction.
"This should be good for traction and in the fast corners. In the last couple of races RedBull have made a decent step forward and I haven't seen that step forward on the Ferrari yet."
Yes,but the Bulls still lack outright quali pace this season. Even though Vettel dominated all of the 3 practice sessions,he was unable to do a good job in FP3....so there's still some hope. And i think the set-up issues will be overcome,as a lot of data analysing will be done by Ferrari. Mercedes are fond of showing their pace quite early, and Massa, who proabably did his outing in a revised Silverstone-spec car this morning, isnt too far behind P3 either. The main problem is the Maccas...it seems that they are always destined to be .7-1 sec ahead of the scarlet cars, and that has pretty much been the gap since Hungary, barring Monza, where the 2 teams were almost on level terms. And the presence of the Saubers and Maldonado is quite worrying,as they're not championship contenders, but can easily influence the outcome...
Red flag out in P2, Di Resta wrecked the front suspension + front wing going off.
Alonso P1 with a 1:34.287
As expected, F2012 running well through S1, not so in S2
Which tyres did we use? Hard or soft?
I am watching as well...
KERS problem for Kimi...
why do we hear Kimi complaining all the time
not gonna change my profile picture
Well, he got a problem with KERS...
Lotus have taken off DDRS from Kimi's car in FP2
There goes our p1 to Button...
Down to P3 at the moment. Need to find a couple of tenths in S2.
