Fernando Alonso says Schumacher would have won 3 races for Sauber

With one short sentence, Fernando Alonso defended the great Michael Schumacher, criticised Mercedes' performance, praised Sauber's 2012 car, and slated the Swiss team's current driver lineup.

"I am sure Michael would have won three races this year for Sauber," the Ferrari driver is quoted by the German-language T-Online website.

Your thoughts on Alonsos motive behind these comments? Is he trying to be political correct or whats the story?

Its funny, with one short sentence, the news made a long story out of it.

All Alonso did was saying he thinks Schumi is much more capable than what we saw in his results this year.

Alonso has the utmost respect for Michael, that's why he said it. No other ulterior motives behind those words. And I totally agree with him.

At least you can be sure he won't call them 'monkeys'.

Could some one explain what is raciest about the word Monkey please ?

I appreciate my lack of understanding is probably an age thing, or maybe I should get out more often.

Where I come from we use the word Monkey in a derogatory way but not with any raciest connotation. Usually to describe some one as foolish.

Vettel or Lewis called the backmarkers monkeys, not in a racist way which was not suggested?

How much better is Kimmi's lotus than the chin's Merc? And look at how Kimmi did so far this year, also out of F1 for a while. Sauber would have been behind Williams with the chin at the helm.

He may have won 1, but I think Alonso was just showing respect at this point.

I think its a fair comment. Fernando knows MS' abilities, and seeing how effective that sauber is under certain race conditions, its not inconceivable that he would have won more than one race.

As for the kimi comparison, i think the lotus is a far stronger car than the sauber is.

@monkeys= racism.... i would like to know too. I never quite get it when someone gets so worked up cause one person called another a monkey and put a racist context to it. ( this hasnt got anything to do with lewis or someone else calling the backmarkers monkeys.. i take it that cant be a racist comment)

I asked because there is a case of a soccer player being accused of Racism for using that word, and I couldnt think how or why.

Edited to show the feature I saw. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/l...101323228.html
