whatever now we are at the clean side ...so we need a storming start from Alonso!!

just can remember the words from Andrea Stella --"USE THE BEST OF YOUR TALENT...WE KNOW HOW BIG IT IS"
Come on Alonso , Come on Ferrari...
and more importantly COME ON FELIPE (this guys keeps making sacrifices for the team...an asset to Ferrari! )

It will all be for nothing when Webber has one of his famous bad starts, and backs up the whole odd numbered side of the grid except Vettel!

so if Red bull gets webber to spoil and maybe even run in to Alonso we can say its all part of racing next you'll be telling me that having Alonso's team mate run it to the barriers to get the safety car out to help him win is all part of racing, o hang on they already did this and robed Massa of the WC
Vatel starting from the pit lane would of started with cold tyres, it's not like telling webber to take the bullet so vatel would gain something Unsparingly, I support Ferrari but not at all costs, very bad PR

Lot of worry and todo about a guy starting what now, 7th on the grid? Good to see Ferrari and Alonso still strike fear in the hearts of competitors.

Don't play dumb with me. I'm better at it than you are.

It is not his talent in question, it is F2012 in question. They better give the man right tool to fight than to use words.

Im actually happy that ferrari has employed this tactic...it reminds me of the schumi era again, win at all cost, we have been a bit of a push over recently...forza ferrari!

Ferrari has broken the official FIA seal on Felipe Massa's gearbox ahead of the United States Grand Prix, meaning the Brazilian driver will be given a five-place grid penalty for this afternoon's race. As a result of the Maranello-based outfit's actions, team-mate Fernando Alonso now moves on to the 'clean side' for the start.

Massa now starts from 11th, with Alonso seventh

As race day preparations got underway in Austin, rumours over the potential change gathered momentum in the paddock. Alonso posted the ninth fastest time in Saturday afternoon's qualifying session, but a grid drop for Romain Grosjean promoted him to eighth and on to the dirtier side of the grid. With engineers up and down the pit lane expecting severely problematic starts from the 'even number' slots, the move was assessed by Ferrari.

At around 11am local time the initial reports were confirmed, meaning Massa drops down the order to 11th place, with Alonso now departing from seventh on the grid. It is currently unknown as to whether or not Massa's gearbox will now be replaced.

    What a difference. Wow.

(reaction on what I just saw on Sky sports... they were analysing the starts from both sides on this track. The difference is incredible)

Surprisingly, Sky showed some onboard from the practice start which justify Ferrari moved to get Alonso on the clean side. The difference between Massa/Lewis start and Alonso start is huge.

I really dont think it is a big issue - we can call it as a team strategy. but the way Ferrai handles the media on this matter is poor, which certainly sparks the debates even in paddock. It can be done in more nicely manner.

Well yes, they could hide it like RedBull does, but on the other end you can say, that it's "nice" from them to not not lying to us.
