Personally, if they wanted to do that, I think they should've gone for F2013-V8 in a similar way to what they did with the F2003-GA. But still, if it wins, then who cares!
They've done some complex name before the F248 F1 in 2006 - Ferrari 2.4 lit. V8 Formula 1- oh well, she better be fast!

I actually like the new naming convention, has something with meaning rather than just a F'year'. Rolls off the tongue better as well.

This is based on a drawing from Giorgio Piola, but to be honest, the drawing from La Marca in this thread is more detailed and has the same info.
    Here it is:

    1. Double DRS - Ferrari will have the double DRS passive introduced in 2012 by Lotus.
    2. Driveshafts streamlined - Rear suspension of school Red Bull with airfoils that cover the axle
    3. More air in the lower - As the new Lotus should be off the air in the lower part of the sides still style Red Bull
    4. Torsion bar - Will be simplified the operation of replacement of the torsion bar, not more from the bottom
    5. Still pull-rod - Remains the front suspension pullrod: in the drawing below, the confrontation with push rod (left).

Not sure whether '13' has the same unlucky connotations in Italy as in the UK and elsewhere, I was born on 13th and have been very lucky in life so have no worries about that number being part of our car's name. Cento trentotto sounds better, though! Roll on tomorrow.

Nope, 13 is a lucky number in Italy, same in China i believe.
Speaking of China, Ferrari have landed a Chinese sponsor (first ever i believe) named Weichai Power, one of the leading companies in China in the production of components for heavy commercial vehicles.
And with China becoming one of the biggest markets for the street car division, it's an important deal.

I believe the number is associated with St. Anthony of Padova, who is celebrated on June 13!

That's new to me, i thought it had something to do with the totocalcio, one of the oldest lottery's in Italy, you had to guess the result of 13 matches in order to win.

Grazie for that info Massimo, and Sagi, you've just made my day because I spent 6 months in Padova in 1972 and I didn't know the connection with San Antonio di Padova and 13th June, so what a coincidence and it bodes well for the F138, I reckon! And Chinese sponsors and totocalcio maybe will make 13 the number to bring us success. Speriamo!

As we say in catalan, moltes gràcies ( thanks a lot )

By the way, I would not spend too much time closely watching the new Mc Laren, the new Lotus or the new Red Bull when it´s first launched on Sunday. They ( same as Ferrari F138 ) will have little to do with the cars we'll see in Jerez and nothing to do with the cars running in Melbourbe.

8 is considered a very good number in Chinese culture, as in certain dialect, it sounds the same as the word "luck"

Lets hope F138 brings us better luck than what we had last year, keep us safe from any crashing drivers

    Edit:

Ferrari posted a picture to tease us

Here we could see the shape of the car a little more clear

That is the F2012. Ferrari never leaks any teases of the car until launch.
