I'm asking myself, maybe it's a stupid question, but why not develop the 2014 car fully in the Toyota windtunnel and use the upgraded Maranello one already for the 2015 car?! In this case they won't risk anything and will be sure about the correlation data. It sounds weird to me and sounds like another excuse just in case they happen to struggle massively with the 2014 car.

no, the team doesn t want the other team to have a look at our last front wing....same in australia.

Ferrari will be very very strong, fast corner-top speed-soft on tire...all things that s ferrari is good.

I agree. Seems like an odd decision. Maybe going all the way to Cologne is very inconvenient in ways we don't know...

So again no shark in the lower front wing for Sepang? Thought it was for 'cooling'?

maybe they just want to play with their new toy ASAP!!! just a thought guys, as we have seen the hublot vents are back, which we persume/know is for driver cooling, then surley if the "shark mouth" is for driver cooling aswell then why do we need both.......this brings me to the conclusion that the shark mouth is definitly not for driver cooling! As i would guess the shark mouth has a better aero dynamic advantage for cooling than the hublot vents...very interesting!

In Australia someone mentioned that Ferrari sound different going into the corner...

Well, right now in FP2, Martin explained that Ferrari and other top team are downshifting aggressively to keep the engine in high rpm as they go into the braking zone (to seal the diffuser I think)

Still running without a Y75 winglet (monkey seat) which means they are not experiencing any problems with separation of air flow on the Rear-Wing.

Agree, and have a well balanced car.

Was anxious to see a photo of the car with pods & the rear center (behind driver) sections removed, so I could glimpse the bare engine/gearbox/rear suspension pieces, so when I saw that photo with the pods & upper rear pieces on a rack (2nd one in post #1004), I thought for sure the next ones would have a shot of that, but was disappointed to not see that type of view! But as wisepie said, those are fantastic photos that you are treating us to tifosi1993, wherever you get them from... much appreciated

BTW, I'm fairly new to posting here (lurking/reading for a couple of yrs.), put a quick note up to the newbie thread & posted maybe one other reply to a thread, but I don't think anyone noticed either one (hahaha)! So let me say hello/ciao to all, can't wait for Sunday's race to begin!!!

Monkey seat, a small mini winglet sitting in top of beam wing just below the main rear wing.

Could be, im not saying it 100% right, but there is new LMP1 rules coming in next year aswell. So Toyota maybe wanting to use the tunnel alot more now to get their new aero package and body shape etc etc right to fight Audi with the new rules.

Aerodynamically LMP1 won't change much. They will get slightly narrower with smaller front wheels, slightly higher cockpit and a wider rear wing

    *off topic*
There will be new "safety" holes in the side of the wheel arches aswell, adjustable element on the front to simplify aero balance.

In Malaysia Ferrari are again running with no hole in the nose and chassis, and with a very similar configuration to that seen in Melbourne. To cope with the heat of Sepang, the bodywork around the exhausts has been opened up (part of the original F138 project plan) to improve the extraction of hot air from the sidepods (single arrow), over and above the standard set-up (two small arrows).

Interesting we aren't running the sharknose mouth thing. It seems this can rule out cooling being a reason for its appearance on the car because it wouls surely be on here, one of the hottest GPs of the year.

Or something which needed more development and will be mounted on in China. As Fry said we have 3 tenths coming in china, and 3 tenths makes it a pretty serious update indeed.

"I cannot judge what he did in his time at Renault and McLaren but I have worked with World Champions Schumacher, Villeneuve and Raikkonen and Fernando is the one who impresses me the most," said Gene.

Yeah, something tells me that either it was banned or it will feature as part of a future update. Could possibly be the passive DRS but we will see. With regards to Fry's comments about the China update, I'd be very cautious because Ferrari have a tendency to delay their updates and not deliver on time. But 3 tenths does sound like a sizeable amount, I hope it aims to improve our qualifying pace because currently our race pace seems just fine.

Fry said specifically the amount of tenths we have coming from our updates?!?!?....i have to see this "interview"! if this is the case, it would be a sizeable step forward, cementing our place (well hopefully for a while) at the front!

I believe the tenths coming are quoted by Fry as being around 3 tenths for China. Not sure if this is directed at pure one lap pace or race pace. I think we need efforts on both fronts (especially quali pace) in order to remain as one of the leading teams. Given the large degradation i think race pace is where the focus is likely to be for most teams so perhaps this is where we should be focusing also as Lotus do seem at present to be a small step ahead of us on race pace but a little behind on quali.
