Ferrari F138 - Development and News

Ok just forgot 2012,let us turn to 2013.

WE NEED TO HAVE A FAST CAR.

What would you change in our team?

There was nothing wrong in terms of personal. We've shown how aggressive we can be, and we practically almost won the title with the 3rd fastest car. I would not trade Ferrari for any other team.

The only disadvantage was our car's performance, but that's technical. Sometimes we get it, sometimes we don't.

Hell had Captain Crash not took out Alonso in Spa, we would have won the title, all we needed was 4 points in Spa. I think the team had achieved something amazing this year.

If we were able to build a faster car, Alonso would have wrap up the title before Brazil. All we need is just a faster car, not new management.

It will be interesting to see whether:

    1) We keep the pull rod suspension at the front - tombazis will have been able to see how big an aero gain we got from it, and what we lost mechanically with it.

    2) Whether we keep the same unorthodox cooling system - on the F2012 we have quite large sidepods because of the vertical radiators and hot air exiting at the back of the sidepods rather than at the rear of the car. Gary Anderson said this was affecting the coke bottle area of our car and made developments more difficult.

Ban on unlimited DRS in qualifying should help us. But we do need to find something extra. We always seem to be lacking a few tenths and very rarely dominate a race.

Get Tombazis into a proper role. Head of aero and Chief Designer both is a tough job.
I hope the new signing of Luc Bigois will help, along with that McLaren guy but i also thought some other guy was head. but it doesn't matter now, let's just correct these flaw in our car and make the F2013 what the F2012 threatened to be this year in Hockenheim.

P.S. Pat Fry has said Pull-rod front suspension is staying.

    Thanks for that info.

Also Bigois is head of aerodyanmics (according to his linkedin) so i assume Tombazis is chief designer.

Good job at the circuits, very poor at Maranello after that big upgrade in Spain or thereabouts.

I would change... A working wind tunnel? Some brilliant ideas so other teams have to look at the red car? A better DRS? ...

Will the 2013 cars have the current exhausts system? I heard it will be banned so it can't blow towards the diffuser.

The main point is will we able to start on terms with mclarens and Cows????
We need a good start in 2013....not disasters like 2012...
and is it possible that cows can have a car like 2011 where they can run away at the start???
i hope so they dont...........as the rules will be same right???

The main point is, will someone at Ferrari will finally have some really good ideas, and will he be given the freedom to develop them? Because thats the freedom Newey has over at RB. Plus the ideas.

You can hope one day he will run out of ideas, but i wouldn't count on it. No matter which stones have been thrown into his way (modified tests, engine mappings) he found a way around this too.

Fernando was totally right imho, we are mainly fighting this one guy. And i personally think its an obstacle that can be overcome by being more open- minded and less worried about the possible outcome. If the car breaks down in one race, who cares, if you know you can have pole and win at the next? That is the RB way of thinking, and it brought them 3 titles in a row.

Ferrari is still too conservative. Too old fashioned. We don't need meteor showers on track, we need one in Maranello.

We'll definitely learn many things from this season, one of our biggest challenges is developing the car. With so many problems going on with the development, I'm sure there will be many things to be learned and to be done differently next year.

The rules have changed a lot, we've gone from brute force testing to simulations on computer and so on. Perhaps Ferrari is still learning how to fit into this new setting.

Obviously, but the dinosaurs finally became extinct because they couldn't adept. Ferrari has to move, to adept, or they will suffer the same fate one day. Simples.

No chance for a comfortable win anywhere this season. Maybe Monza, but that anti-roll bar in Q3... That could have made the difference too for the WDC. Better focus on 2013 as 2012 season is over.

Let's hope we are competitive from the first race next year. Then we can compete with the other top teams right from the start instead of a couple of months development before getting close to the other teams.

@Kyss4k, please stop living in the past. Aint going to happen.

Anyway, next years car going to be better, exhausts layout different to this years and other major changes. But it is stable next year in the rules, so after the straight lines tests w had for updates plus ran few things for 2013 car. Its looking good so far.

I find it hard to think about next year, when I'm still completely gutted about today.
The pure racing DNA, the passion, the drama and the emotion, the tears of Fernando and Felipe, winning or losing with their whole heart.
That's why i love Ferrari, i don't expect an Energy drink company to understand that, in fact, i don't even want them to.
Dr Ferdinand Porsche:" Nuvolari is the greatest driver of the past, the present, and the future".
Enzo Ferrari once drove with him and recalled even on bends "he never took his foot from the accelerator".

What is wrong with hoping? Or are you not hoping that sometimes in the future there will be another Ferrari dominance? I didn't taste the sweetness of the Schumacher era only the bitter end, so let me hope I can experience something similar.

oh yeah i do, want it again. But we let this energy drinks marketing programme have their 15 minutes of fame and we pounce next year. They start loosing, they will not stay around in the sport much longer.

It took Todt few years to get team together and gelled as 1, our time coming.

Mercedes/RB style DDRS is banned. Lotus style system can be used. During qualifying DRS should be used only in the same zones as in race.
