Of course, Fernando Alonso is my favorite Ferrari driver, but I liked the Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell and Mika Salo.

My favorite Ferrari drivers over the years are:
    1) Peter Collins
    2) Fangio
    3) John Surtees
    4) Jody Shecketer
    5) Alain Prost
    6) Michael Schumacher
And finnaly Felipi Massa. With the exception of Mansell I think they have all been pretty good anyway

Not sure I can sell him to you - but all my family liked him because he was 'local' and he was the main reason I started supporting Ferrari. Also I know he was a bit of a mouth (and still is) but I always found him funny. He never took things in F1 too seriously but he still stepped up to the plate in 1999 when Michael was out injured and nearly won the WDC. I thought he and Michael were a great combination - they got along well despite being so different. I remember reading years and years ago someone describing Michael as the thoroughbred and Eddie as the bucking bronco... I think that's a fantastic description

I know he is a bit crazy in his opinions these days, but I was always a big fan of Niki Lauda.
My grandfather had some old cassette tapes of some of his races, and the way he came back in '76 was nothing short of amazing.

Bravest F1 driver I have seen.

    P.s. can't wait for 'Rush'

Of today's drivers would Kimi most resemble him, does not take things so serious, very laid back in the paddock etc

Fernando of course for me, because he already was my favorite driver far before he was in red, but others who I like are first of all Felipe, and I liked Eddie because he was such a character and before him I liked Gilles who had it all in him to be just as good as Fernando now is. Still a shame he never got the chance to really shine like he deserved.

wow, i'm not surprised to see Schumi and Fernando being the most popular but i am very, very surprised that no one even mentioned "Captain Bonkers" Jean Alesi.

for me, Alesi is one of the biggest reasons i started supporting Ferrari. i loved the way he drove all out - didnt matter to him how often he broke the car, he still kept doing what he wanted to do - drive fast. and that relentless pursuit of speed is, more than anything else, the spirit of Ferrari...

This. Just remove Michael and insert Niki.

Never really liked Schumacher. Only reason I really cheered for him was because he was driving the red cars.

As Greg has said Eddie had character bundles of it. James Hunt would be the nearest match to Eddie certainly NOT Kimi. Eddie talked!!!!!!!!!!!
A few snippets might help here..

Once on the eve of a Monaco grand prix (cannot remember the year) Eddie's engineers were sent to find him around 2am (I guess he should have been tucked up in bed getting shut eye for the day ahead) He was found dancing in the street with a bevy of girls.

Louise Goodman pit lane presenter asked Eddie who had qualified 6th that day---- how do you reckon you will do to-day. He winked at her & replied "I'll tell you after the race.

I will always remember Suzuka 1999 the morning after the race when Eddie was still crying and so was I. He had just missed out on the WDC by 1 point. He would of been the 1st WDC at Ferrari in 19years. ( Ferrari had stopped developing the car earlier) So yes Eddie was serious but he kept it well hidden.

My list would be Eddie of course, Alan Prost, Jean Alesi, Michael & Felipe.
    I admired Nicky Lauder.

Unfortunately I only started supporting Ferrari the year after he left. I'd love to have been a fan then.
