Put all 24 drivers in identical cars and ALO would win, I have no doubt, followed, probably, by HAM.
    Trying to be less angry..

Delusions of grandeur. Best of the current drivers? Yes, but not by a huge margin. Best of all time, equal to Fangio or Schumacher? No way. Try winning first the championship for the Prancing Horse and talk afterwards.

You probably made the same mistake like the posters on autosport and only read the headline. Fernando never said that. He said that if he had a wish, it would be that after he retired he would be seen as one of the greats. You can calm down now. And btw, with a bit of more luck and a bit better car Fernando would have won this. Especially a bit better car.

Bit harsh, if Ferrari stopped basing their aerodynamic development on milk floats then Alonso would have won at least 2 by now for Ferrari.

Had to do a little research, most of the quotes come from the end of august this year, but i'll be surprised if they would think different now.
No I wouldn’t say there were irrelevant, it’s just that events sometimes change peoples’ minds, or perhaps F1 ex-drivers wouldn’t publicly say the same thing after someone else has won the WDC for the 3rd time, e.g. I’d be very surprised if MSC were to make that comment now and Lauda too.

Sorry for delay in reply. I was very cheered to read the comments at the time so thanks.

For sure he must rate as the most complete of the current drivers after what he achieved with the F2012, he made Felipe look worse than he really was at the beginning of the season too. Glad to see that Felipe was able to redeem himself once the car had become easier to handle and drove brilliantly in the later races, but Fernando is definitely up there with the greats, and Felipe made the greatest comeback.
