I think the guy was referring to Costa. But yeah, Ross back would be awesome. Mercedes looks like poaching all the talent then ruining its reputation

Ross and Michael got ruined there. Thank god Rory didn't go otherwise he would have lost his title of Newey destroyer.

Ross Brawn set for Mercedes exit?

Mercedes principal Ross Brawn's future with the team is again in doubt after the departure of Paddy Lowe from McLaren at the end of the season again fuelled reports Lowe would join the team at the end of the season.

Brawn indicated last month that he would leave if Lowe was recruited and given that the new man is likely to be running the team day-to-day alongside executive director Toto Wolff in 2014, Brawn's position would seem to be untenable.

Although a formal announcement has yet to be made, Lowe is widely believed to be joining Mercedes at the end of the season when he has served out his remaining contract with McLaren.

Niki Lauda, the team's non-executive chairman, refused to be drawn. "I cannot officially say anything because nothing has happened yet," he said on Monday night. "If Paddy Lowe is coming or not, I cannot tell you now. Make up your own [mind], whatever you want to do. The situation is as it is. McLaren have put him on gardening leave, so let's wait and see.

"To be clear, Ross has not even been discussed, which is an important thing. But there's peace. Ross is in his position, he will stay in his position, so everything is under control, there is nothing to make out of this."

After reading all these "news", I get an impression that Brawn is just a bystander, a nobody. He's a Team Principal isn't he? That's top position in a TEAM. Why no one in the press realize that this could have been HIS idea to invite Lowe and Wolff? As a team principal he can approve or reject candidates, that's for sure...

Yes you are right he is the Team Principal, but he is an employee of Mercedes so he is a puppet. Stefano is in the same position at Ferrari, if Luca said to Stefano make me a Espresso he would say yes sir.

With Wolff having a 30% stake in AMG Mercedes F1 and Lauda 10% (the old 40% Aabar stake) i don't think it's Brawn calling the shots.

Ross and the chin ruined Rubens here. I still am amazed how Nico survived at Merc with both them bums . I would like to see Ross try to hold Lewis back just once! Make him pit 3xs in a race to hold him back. If he ever comes back, put him in charge of bad memories.

There seems to be a lot of inter-team movement going on lately, most of these guys have been head-hunted but there must be conflicts of interest in F1 like never before. I'm not convinced any eventual return to Ferrari by Ross Brawn would necessarily be any better than our present line-up, things have moved on since the Schumi/Ross days and indeed the Brawn GP days.

Would be happy to see Ross back in the Maranello fold, but not at the expense of Stefano (or any current employees), the team seems to have a very harmonious feel to it right now, both drivers are happy and settled and we are definately making progress, if Ross came back just to be on the pit wall as a strategist or similar that would be fine, but certainly don't think he can recapture the old days, it was a moment in time when everything came together perfectly that will never be repeated, but i've no doubt he has a very sharp brain and he can definately add something to the team in the right capacity...

I think we have the best strategist there is in Neil Martin.
But i wouldn't mind Ross on the pit wall looking at the whole Red Bull crew every now and then:"do you have to keep laughing? Thank you!" (remember that one?)

The news that Paddy Lowe will join Mercedes for the 2014 season is well known, but the role the McLaren employee will play isn't.
However recently appointed executive director Toto Wolff has hinted that Lowe is indeed the intended successor to team principal Ross Brawn who is expected to leave at the end of the season following a disappointing few seasons for Mercedes despite a win in China last year.
"Based on last year's results, Niki [Lauda] asked Paddy if he wanted to work for us," Wolff told Die Welt.
"Ross responded totally professionally and said 'For three years I have not brought the results that were expected. Therefore it is clear that you would look around for a successor'," added the Austrian.
Lowe has been removed from any future projects at McLaren to ensure their secrets aren't carried over to Mercedes, but Wolff isn't too concerned by Brawn doing the same should he remain in the sport with a rival outfit.
"This is a very professional environment, with contracts containing confidentiality clauses," he explained.
"I do not believe that men of the calibre of Ross Brawn or Paddy Lowe will go to their next team and just tell everything to the competition. I don't think we need to worry about that."

I don't care about what Macca and Merc are doing, not even a little bit. They can swap their workers everyday for all I care. But if the stupid Merc does indeed end up kicking Ross out, then I would definitely like to see him coming back to our team. Although I'm happy with the people we have in the team right now.

I believe Rubens was Ross' good luck charm. Not only at Ferrari following orders with a great car, Rubens, following orders made a winner out of Button at team Brawn. Then the move to Merc even with the chin the results for Brawn were never to return. I'm sure all the Rubens fans here will agree !!

Q: Could you imagine growing your roses again in Maranello?
RB: Ha, I never grew roses in Maranello - and I certainly will never try it again.
