Ferrari's Jerez test program.
In this early wintertests in Jerez de la Frontera Ferrari will only do mechanical and aerodynamical tests and try to gather as much data as they can for windtunnel and simulator comparison, without seeking any performance, the real Ferrari will be seen in Barcelona.
A reaction from Ferrari, for the many worried Tifosi, "we have a very different program, one that has nothing to do with performance, so please don't expect extraordinary times.
Fry and Tombazis have already said that these tests are mainly for a better understanding of the development direction.
In the first sessions the F138 will be full with thermo stickers, aero rakes and aero paint, to fully understand if the data from the windtunnel in Cologne are corresponding with the ones on track, in fact yesterday Felipe has done most of his 64 laps on a constant speed (on the straights) for aero data.
But not just aerodynamics and downforce, Felipe has also given important feedback to the engineers about the balance of the car, also saying that he was pleased with the car's basic balance, it is stable and has significantly better traction than the F2012, Felipe will continue this tests during his Jerez test.
Pedro de la Rosa will do a completely different program, he will compare the behaviour of the real car to the "virtual" behaviour in the Maranello simulator.
The data and feedback the Pedro will gather, and discuss with Simone Resta is in fact fundamental for the development of the F138, this of course because of the test ban.
The F138 will be in the hands of Fernando Alonso at the Barcelona tests, and it is there that we will see the full potential of our car, also visibly, expect to see new wings, sidepods, aero updates and our new diffuser, but also significant changes that are not visible.
"in the mean time we hope that you are enjoying the sounds of the V8 engines, after a long silence, and please wait until Barcelona before you make any judgements on the F138's competitiveness "
Dr Ferdinand Porsche:" Nuvolari is the greatest driver of the past, the present, and the future".
Enzo Ferrari once drove with him and recalled even on bends "he never took his foot from the accelerator".
