And there are also those who support Massa more than anything else And there's also Schumi fans, and there's even one Rubens fan around here

Its normal to have fans who support a driver more, don't act like its a bad thing. The only thing we can say is everyone should respect one another, and avoid any flame bait comments. Sometimes if we have nothing nice to say about the other driver, its best not to say anything.

felipe is NOT a slow driver. He was as fast as kimi...somethimes faster than schumacher in 2006, and somethimes faster than fernando also...so it s not a shame to be beat by him.
we are scuderia so we need to support both driver .
The car who eats more the tire is Redbull following by Lotus -Mercedes-Ferrari.We can fight for win i think. We have a top driver to protect tire in alonso...I hope a good start for both driver...Forza

have had a truck load of Hammy fans join my merc fanclub, surprisingly they seem to be very supportive of Nico too..

guess you're gonna have to cheer for Lewis and Nico nowadays that Schumi is gone retiring once again...

They seem to look more or less the same. Everyone have the dark bands on the rear tires, even Ferrari. Except for Lotus, it's rear tire doesn't have the dark band like the rest.

yeah.. it's all good.. so far, Lewis and Nico have been bum chums for a while, having said that he's not a bad driver, and so far, this season he's taken a more "grown up" approach..
oh and here's what i'm dealing with

oh and Schumi's gonna be working on a New Merc supercar..

that sounds like good news....although we probably have more chances to get a good result if it rains....
oh well, let's just hope that both our drivers have a good race and bring home some good points....maybe even a WIN...that would be simply amazing...

I want to see where we're at as far as pace goes in the dry ... a wet track, particularly at Melbourne, could result in one of our cars being shunted out of the race all together.

we already know we can't compete with the likes of Red Fools in the dry....they're way to fast for us (hopefully NOT for long and our big update for china really works)....our only hope for getting on the podium or let's say WIN is if it is a wet race...but i've been proved WRONG in the past...

so let's hope i'm being proven wrong and we WIN this race..

Hi all, I have heard on sky that on quali both Ferrari lost 1 second in the last sector. Is it right?
It seems to me quite strange.

Re: 2013 Australian GP: Qualifying Thread

Sky confirmed Alonso didn't use DRS on the main straight (at least). I saw he wasn't using it on the main straight twice so the chances are that it didn't work in the other.

Some of that will be down to not having DRS.

Any idea how much DRS is worth around this track?

Australian GP – Fernando Alonso: “Objective achieved”

Fernando Alonso: “I am very pleased with this result, because if our aim for the year is to reduce the gap to our competitors and start from better positions than we have done in the past two seasons, we can claim to have managed it. After winter testing, it was difficult to draw any conclusions and that was also the case today, with a delayed qualifying and very changeable weather conditions. Once again, Red Bull demonstrated its superiority, but while it’s true that we fought with them right down to the last race, for the past two seasons, I am sure that once again this year we will be there to mix it with them, if we do everything perfectly without making mistakes. I think that starting from fifth, a podium finish is a realistic option”.

Felipe Massa: “Given the difficult conditions we encountered yesterday in the first part of qualifying and then again this morning, I’m reasonably pleased with this fourth place. In such changeable conditions, the slightest inconvenient could see you not make it through the various stages of qualifying. Now we can expect a long and difficult race where the strategy will play – like always - a key factor. Anyway, starting from a good position is a positive and encouraging sign for the start of this championship”.

The tires are going to byte them hard.
I so hope you are right.
I missed the qualifying, cant imagine we are a second behind finger boy. i just hope its some use of wrong tyres at the wrong time kinda thing, or when they went out on track relative to RBR.
Hopefully hamilton will go kamikaze and take out vettel or atleast slow him down in the intiail stint.

It amuses me that some who were calling for Massa's head this time last year are now peeved that he outqualified Fernando, use of DRS or no.
The usual case of 'Massa must do better... just not better than Alonso'.

Also, writing off the season already is jumping the gun a tad. We're clearly starting with a better car than 2012 and look how close we came last year.

I'm reading this thread after the race and again it's moaning about Felipe's inconsistency. We had a pretty good race but Felipe was certainly in fighting mode like he used to be in 2006/7/8, his consistency does seem to falter when his car is rubbish or his strategy is made to favour his team-mate, which happened today. For that, I'm cross but I accept that Fernando has probably a better chance of ultimate championship success, but why make Felipe's job that much harder to start with? We wanted him to fight, which he did from the start, but then we spoilt it for him again. I despair, and yes, I'm a real tifoso and don't care which of our drivers win, but it gives me more satisfaction to see Felipe achieve what so many people seem to think is impossible.

I totally agree with you Suzie! It seems that some people on this forum only want to see the negative side of Felipe! Felipe drove a great race with a F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C start and if he would have come in one lap earlier he would have been on podium for sure! Well done Felipe

Sutil's engineer 'don't waste time on Raikkonen' Sutil spends about 2/3 laps holding up Alonso.
    Hamilton the same
