"It doesn't help his feelings right now. Apologies to Mark and now result is there, but all I can say is that I didn't do it deliberately."
how can someone say he didn't do it deliberately when he's been precisly said not to do it? vettel claims that he is an idiot?

I never felt so bad after an F1 GP.

Anything that could go wrong for Alonso went wrong today. He made a mistake, that was the second race of the season on a wet track in Malaysia and he just had to make sure he would get to the end of the race. Trying to win a race in the first corner is absolutely stupid for someone that wants to fight for the championship in November.

Massa's race was quite good. Both Red Bull and Mercedes were too strong today so he did his job pretty well.

Too bad Vettel's car didn't break down in the last lap. That would have taught him.

A very angry Australian fan in the grandstands was screaming abuse at Horner as he did interviews after the race. Emotions running high here

Really sad day. So much bad luck, it's just unbelievable. But the worst thing was reading the first couple of pages on this thread where the shameful bashing of the team began...words like "idiots" flying around and so on...that's just so wrong and unfair. A real shame. *smh*

Hopefully our fortunes will change for the better in China.

Maybe there is a case for team orders being illegal again. The teams should be able to make cars that go fast and can make it to the end of the race without having to be protected and nursed. Sebastian was wrong with what he did today in ignoring the rule (given that he would know Mark had turned his engine down and it wasn't a fair fight) but it was the only decent bit of racing we saw today. The racing in F1 is being lost because no one is allowed to challenge each other anymore, it happened with Mercedes too, which I think is quite sad and makes me wonder what the point of it being called a race is.

In the heat of the moment that's the politest word you can say.

Second race of the season, absolutely no need for an all or nothing approach.

All the bashing I've seen in this forum always comes from the so called "Ferrari fans". With those friends nobody needs enemies.

There was plenty of racing like the one between Hulk and Kimi without the farce created by Vettel. I am glad he is not coming to Ferrari anytime soon as no driver should be greater than the team.

Can you say 12 year old spoiled brat! Webber should race Vettel hard the entire year from this point forward and teach this punk to have respect!

That was a very poor race from start to finish! Let move on to China and the "Big" package Ferrari are due to run!

    Ciao,

    Forza Ferrari!!!!

team orders will never be able to be enforced. F1 is a team 'sport' (even though it hasn't been a sport for a long time)

Fangio won many of his titles due to team orders, (at ferrari his car crashed and his teammate pitted and handed his car over to fangio) Surtees, Scheckter etc.

Team orders are almost as big a part of F1 as pitstops are imo.

I wouldn't blame the lack of racing on team orders but the tyres mainly because they were all old to hold station etc. maybe they have gone too far with the degradation when the hardest tyres available can't do the race.

    The problem was Vettel disobeying

Agreed. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the podium - not something I thought I'd be saying after the 1st corner! And Damon & Johnny weren't going to let dear little Seb off the hook so that was good too.
I don't thnk they specifically mentioned that truely dreadful 'team order' during the race "MArk is too slow. Get him out of the way!" What does that tell us about the relative status of drivers ( indeed whole management hierarchy) within RBR.
I got the impression that Mark would have heard that too on his radio. If so I suspect it was that comment as much as anything that has sent him back to Oz to think deeply about his situation. Brundle picked up on that.
Felipe did the best he could with the material and Fernando, from what I've read here, seems to have acknowledged that it was his mistake but (back to Johnny & Damon again) he wouldn't have been able to see the damage from the cockpit and that's why some feel the team should have brought him in sooner. It was horrible at the time but we have hope it was our 'Grosjean incident' for 2013.

At the end of the day we can say that Felipe did a good job. Shame he lost so much in the beginning, that caused him a lot of work later on but he did okay.
Fernando seems to be over it already (see his twitter comments) and what can one say: mistakes are made, if you don't want that then stay home...

    So...China, what can we expect?

I feel sorry for Rosberg he had clearly had the fastest car, Lewis must have a contract with number 1 status. Team orders are great, unless its Ferrari doing it. Then the politics start.

If anything, I think Red Bull's incident only shows that team orders are necessary to ensure end success. What Vettel did was wrong, but at the end of the day, these guys are all extremely competitive. It's F1, they have to be that competitive to get there. So sometimes the drivers would do anything to win, including dangerous racing. Drivers like Schumi have done it, and so did the many great drivers that came before Schumi.

So sometimes we need the team to step in and ensure the drivers do not end up doing something silly. We can't blame them, at the heat of the moment behind the wheel, drivers do overstep their boundaries. So it's the team's responsibility to take measures to prevent such incidents. One of the most common method we've seen is that if the drivers can't pass each other after all pit stops, the team well tell them to turn it down and just finish the race because the only way left is hard fighting on track and that's risky.

    fake apology is fake.
Vettel is probably laughing and celebrating the easy 7 more points.
This just occured to me, if RB was not happy with what Vettel did, why the hell didnt they order him to give the lead back to Webber? This is a clear sign that there's only one driver in RB and Mark is just there to help with the constructors points.

Felipe drove a very good race to me! The Red Cows and Merc's were faster today so more than a 5th place wasn't possible. He brings home 10 valuable points for himself and the team. It's just that when I woke up this morning I felt like this could be the day for Felipe today. But in the wet the pace wasn't good and when it got more dry Felipe showed a good pace.

The problem is that is impossible to police. You ban team orders, and teams will still use coded messages (as happened from 2003 to 2010).

Many fans think F1 is just about twenty cars&drivers racing.

    IT IS NOT!!!
