So we finally have three cars on track, a wish come true for Di Montezemolo, Alonso relentless as ever, Massa back in fighting form with and another solid haul of points, and of course our newest team member Mark Webber.
Dr Ferdinand Porsche:" Nuvolari is the greatest driver of the past, the present, and the future".
Enzo Ferrari once drove with him and recalled even on bends "he never took his foot from the accelerator".

Well well... Massa has done his job, got a mediocre car into a reasonably correct point scoring position. He has not driven a fantastic race or he would have got himself on the podium but has done what was required from a F1 racing driver / his job, where someone else has not. Okayish Race - Okayish result

"I cannot judge what he did in his time at Renault and McLaren but I have worked with World Champions Schumacher, Villeneuve and Raikkonen and Fernando is the one who impresses me the most," said Gene.

Felipe may not be the allround driver Fernando is, but he is certainly a Ferraridriver and a good one too!

Too true. Alonso needs some one who will push him to do better. He is a great driver, but with a very good driver like Massa, the sleeping dog in Alonso can be woken up again that can be super fast and motivated.

I am too a Alonso fan out and out, but as a superbly focused driver he is race after race, as he has shown last year, he seems tamed and not as ruthlessly fast as he had been.(Renault days)

Jarno Trulli was fast and capable over a single lap and Alonso had to step up his game then. Same i hope will happen again in this pairing.

If there's one thing I can't understand, it's why some fans have to be either a Fernando fan or a Felipe fan. This is a Ferrari forum. Can't we just cheer on both cars and drivers and leave it at that?

The only thing that is still sad to see here imo, is that even after the great end of last season, when he matched fernando's pace, and possibly even outpaced fernando, he did everything a teammate could have done to help nando win the championship as it should have been done since he wasn't on the fight for the tittle, during the first race, people seemed to think that he should have immediatly moved over for nando (as if fernando needed such things) in the beginning of melbourne, and again in sepang, he should have disappeared simply cause from fernando's onboard camera, you could see felipe's ferrari on the side of fernando's, and of course how dare he? when he actually qualified in front?

In melbourne i thought he had a very good start and actually was faster than fernando at the first stint.

please understand, that when a car is behind another, the tendency is to try and atack to overtake the position, and when a car is in front, the tendency is to try and defend from such attacks, as it happened in melbourne.

felipe and fernando has a brilliant relationship, as fernando has been pointing this out even way before felipe was performing well, that it would always be a good thing to have both ferraris in front, and fighting for podiums and wins.

If felipe can actually keep driving well, and keep being close to fernando in the championship scoreboard, why should any of us ferrari fans be pointing a wand at the tv when he appears and screaming expelliarmus?

If I created a new topic every race Alonso beat Massa since they've been team-mates it would take up half the forum.

I don't see why threads saying "well done Massa" can't just go on the race thread...

So you have a problem with a thread saying well done to a Ferrari driver, on a Ferrari forum?

Just to be clear is that what you are saying?

    Sorry,
This gettin a little bit annoying and childish. And somehow I have the feeling that many here are now in absolute Massa-Defending mode in every little sentence Felipe is mentioned. Everybody knows how good Felipe is (or not). And it is not required always to jump in and battle with other which are not convinced - as it wont help.

Maybe we should rest this issue as long as we (Ferrari) are not able to gain Pole Position and finish first (and second) on sundays because of our pure speed (and not being dependent on weather, others mistakes and technical problems)

    how about that?

LOL. Mark Webber might just let Ferrari past easily someday if it means we beat Vettel in the title

In F1, each individual drivers are very popular so they tend to have their own die hard fans who support the driver first, they tend to follow the driver whichever team he drive for. Naturally we would have Ferrari fans, and those who are Alonso and Massa fans. (Not that I have any problems with people supporting drivers first)

But I do agree with you. This is a Ferrari forum and therefore while everyone is welcomed, we should keep in mind that both Ferrari drivers are supported here, so keep those bashing at bay. Or those who bash Ferrari too, that's just silly.

Yep very much so, much better than those who just come here to whine and moan.

Why would that be a problem for you?

The fact is, this thread would not exist if Alonso had finished 3rd. There wasn't a "Congratulations Felipe" thread when he finished 4th at Australia, but there is one when he finishes 5th!

It still doesn't make sense having a brand new thread to congraluate a driver on an average performance. It should go into the race thread. End of story.

If you want to make a thread for Alonso then as said already feel free to do so nobody will moan and complain about it, we would be very happy to see threads of support for our drivers here not sure why you find that hard to accept.

I really don't think the thread was made purely down to his 5th place, but more because he has clearly carried the performance he had in the second half of 2012 into the new season. But I don't know for sure - ask the OP if you are THAT aggrieved by the existence of this thread.

As was said by Tobes in another thread, a lot of members here feel a bond with Felipe that perhaps we haven't had for other drivers because of 2008/9, which is why that at times he perhaps IS defended so vehemently and treated a little 'softer' than maybe other drivers would be. I don't see why that should be a problem for some - it just shows that we're an emotional and sentimental bunch, and isn't that what we like to think being a Ferrari fan is all about; what makes us different from other teams?

Well said Suzie and I totally agree with you ! Felipe is a fantastic driver and personality. He is for me THE Ferrari-driver we all want and like! He is so passionate and he really loves the team! He has had difficult moments the last year and this thread is just to support Felipe with his good performance since second part of the 2012 season! GO FELIPE GO!

I think if we'd had a better result in Sepang, this thread would have meant more, 5th doesn't really justify a congratulatory thread, although Felipe does deserve encouragement and a pat on the back for being able to drag himself out of last year's early doldrums.
We all have our own preferred drivers for whatever reason, irrespective of their ability to take a WDC, mine has been Felipe since his Sauber days and I'm almost as loyal as he is!!

You know what, if that helps us get 1 -2 every race then i am so for this new car development package for felipe!

PS For the members who remembers, every since Fernando joined ferrari, most fans who are felipe's supporters has been nice and respectful to nando and his followers, all we ever asked (and alot of times the MODs had to step in to remind people) was that the posts could be a little bit respectful to a driver who is still driving for this team. we are not asking or saying everyone has to agree, just not try and put him down and be disrespectful to other members opnions specially when there is no reason to. it's not like the thread is called "congratulations Felipe, Fernando you suck! "

    Massa = Mediocre at best.
This is a Ferrari forum, where we're happy for both our drivers, and celebrate their performances as well as their efforts.

Massa is trying his best and that is cause for celebration.

    And that's how it is.

Please stop judging Felipe's performance in Sepang.
Some are saying mediocre, while others think it's brilliant.
Take a look at his results at this track.
Seems like this is not one of his best circuits!
The best four results are all 5th.place !!!

    Year.................................Result....... .......Gap
    2006................................5th..................43.2 sec.
    2007................................5th..................36.7
    2008.............................Retired.
    2009................................9th........... .......76.9
    2010................................7th........... .......27.0
    2011................................5th..................36.9
    2012................................15th.......... ......97.3
    2013.................................5th.................25.6

Massa still does not trust the car when there is no grip. The mixed conditions did not help.
I bet he will be strong in the next races.

Wow does that says something very good about Massa or a dip of Alonso?

Let's just hope it's the first one shall we! Alonso gains more when he has a competitive teammate who can steam points away from bieber.

My first thought was, it's probably a combination of both a return to form for Massa and a not-so-great start from Alonso...

And, then I thought: Wow! Twice in one year? That's amazing, even if the "other" record would be one for the longest drought between podiums!

What a weird and wonderful world F1 is, eh?
