Good result for Alonso and Felipe, consistent and fast. I have no idea where Raikkonen came from, no one expected that at all.
Kimi set a very quick time on the softs in P2 on Friday, only 0.15 behind Massa. So I was not very surprised by his Q3 pace.

Still, his S1 time is very impressive in my opinion...

hopefully Lotus' ability to conserve/make tires last longer was just a ONE OFF and are NOT able to repeat what they did in australia and Ferrari makes it a double podium tomorrow with one of them on the TOP STEP

So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

Turn 1 and 2 are really tough on the tyres. Maybe they sacrificed one lap speed there for durability in the race? Or the other cars were just on more fuel in Practice.

Perhaps a bit of both.. Felipe already said he thought that the others had more fuel.. But when you look at the sector times from every session, the S1 times from Ferrari still are a bit weird, it's possibly we lose their, but we have,'t made any progress in S1 over the weekend, so perhaps set-up, to be more gentle on the tyres in S1 and compromise lap time? Who knows...

    Same here ...
Don't know what would be the best for actual F1.
In the old days we got many times complains that driver x was blocked from driver y during his fasted lap. As everybody wanted to wait until the last tenth of time for his fasted lap.

Maybe - in the actual situation - it might be best if every driver gets their own set of tires only for qualifying. And I don't talk about a different type of tire. When Pirelli brings Medium & Soft then each team gets 2 sets of medium and 2 sets of softs ... and they have to give them back ...And for the race each team has once again the same amount of sets. And those Teams which have out-qualified in Q1 just get the according set of tire substituted. So for the race every starts on the same level.

but I want to see them fighting for Pole ... not an academical approach ... that's not sport ... otherwise I can join a chess club.

That Merc pace is quite concerning actually and I'm not just talking about tomorrow's race, I mean in a future perspective as well. I really hope that this improved speed of their's isn't the dawn of a Merc era. It would be a damn nightmare if Merc would become the new Red Cow in the future. It's probably too early to talk about such scenarios but we definitely need to keep an eye on them. With their FRIC suspension system they can be a real nuisance throughout this season.

I agree with the tires arguments developing here, this is putting me off seriously. In terms of tools DRS and KERS are good enough to give us a bit more excitement but now this is bordering on the ridiculous. Next year is going to be a joke with the new V6s and their fake sounds. Where is our sport going?

"I cannot judge what he did in his time at Renault and McLaren but I have worked with World Champions Schumacher, Villeneuve and Raikkonen and Fernando is the one who impresses me the most," said Gene.

The thing is massa is starting directly behind alonso so if he gets a good start it means he has to go round alonso and naybe compromise alonso or both...lets just hope they both get a good start and are no where near eachother, it is way to tense seeing two ferraris going into a corner....despite their clean history between them, mistakes happen (malaysia)! On another note, wernt mercades very very quick on the mediums but we were quicker on the softs?!?!

For the the person who ask for Kimi issue, there is only one penalty and for Webber, with no FUEL to analyses. Back grid for him.

Instead of 2 corners, make it 3 corners.

F1 has used all sorts of engines in the past, and always a lot of people rejected those changes...but it always turned out to be F1 again.
Ferrari has used V12's V10's, V8's and V6's in the past and they all were real F1 engines.
Remember the only 1,5 litre 4 cyl. BMW turbo engine? Almost 1000 horsepower and screaming like hell?

Where is our sport going? Nowhere, cars change, engines change and drivers change, teams come and go, but Ferrari will stay forever in what it always was and will be: FORMULA 1.

This is quite a common argument, but not valid one I fear. Those engines were run to the absolute limit of the capabilities of that technology. 2014 turbos will have just 600hp in age where the technology is far more advanced. They could be quite loud, but they will be nowhere, nowhere near to what the old turbos used to be.

Hell they are even considering some kind of amplifiers, that doesn't sound very promising.

I hope thats the case. I have no issue with Mercedes winning and Hamilton is also a worthy champion.

Id prefer Alonso win, but ultimately anyone but Vettel.

Since swearing and foul language isn't allowed on this forum I'll just pretend that you didn't just say that. What for did you tell me that, I don't get it? Go tell about your Hamilton and merc dreams to someone who gives a damn!

The only way to solve this, IMO, is to give them 6 qualifying tires, that way everyone will do at least 2 runs in every round (because they are qualifying set and will be taken back after qualifying so might as well use it).

Unfortunately that's not going to happen with all the cost cutting. Pirelli have said that even an extra wet set for everyone increases the cost of flying the tires out. The cheaper the show is, the more boring it is.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and being complimentary about Lewis/Merc does not mean that they are not a Ferrari fan.

Probably yes, but much simpler version then Mercedes which has fully hydraulic front-rear linked suspension. Watch this (from 18:50)

Sitting in an hotel in Phoenix, USA, with no hope of seeing the Bahrain GP live, I can only say that I fear I would have needed to rant again, this time against Fernando, for not setting a time in quali and that would have been against my religion (Alonsomania). So, just as well that I erased my rant. But thanks anyway Suzie.
