Despite the little rear tyre degradation worries on Felipe's car, we are looking bloody good boys and girls! Our quali pace and race pace both seem to be absolutely top notch.
Fernando and Felipe didn't even push on their fastest laps and still easily achieved such good times. It's a really great feeling going into quali and knowing that we have a car capable of fighting for the highest of places, not to mention an even better car for the race. What a difference a year can make eh...amazing.

that's right, save it for Quali....or better yet, for the race on sunday....
So the SF-24 has been a decent car. Lets hope that the totally redesigned from the ground up SF-25 contender will be a beast that will give us tifosi something to smile about.

    Thumbs up Teams Quotes

    Fernando Alonso, P1 - 1:34.564, 2nd; P2 - 1:34.310, 4th
“It was a positive day and we are reasonably pleased with how the car behaved. We had no major problems and more importantly, we didn’t have to make any radical changes to the F138 to adapt it to this track and its long straights and slow corners, characteristics which I like a lot and usually produce a great show in the race. Unfortunately, the wind and sand make everything a bit more complicated here, because the track surface never gets completely clean. However, the initial feelings are good and I think we can be up in the leading group tomorrow, a group that is all within the same two, maximum three-tenths. We have not yet decided if we will use the aero updates we tried in the morning. It is not yet completely clear how they worked and in the afternoon, we concentrated on comparing the two tyre compounds we have for this race. Ahead of us is another long evening of studying data to choose the best strategy and set-up for qualifying and the race.”

    Felipe Massa, P1 - 1:34.487, 1st; P2 - 1:34.552, 6th
“Everything went well today, even if it’s not easy to say at the moment where we will be on Sunday. Car balance was good and it behaved well in all conditions, even if we suffered a bit with tyre wear, especially at the rear. It’s pretty normal to have significant degradation in such high temperatures and on this front, we have a lot of work to do to prepare for the race. On the medium tyres, the F138 worked really well, even over a long run, but the key on Sunday will be managing the degradation of both compounds, as well as deciding on whether or not to use the updates we tried here this morning.”

    Pat Fry, Ferrari chassis director
“Of the aerodynamic updates we tried this morning, some worked well, while with others we have yet to decide if we will use them this weekend, because it is still too early to say what real advantage they bring. There was not enough time to test them fully, but I’m still pleased at how we managed to get through the work programme planned for both cars. In the afternoon session, we had a good balance on the hard tyre, while we found it a little bit more difficult with the Medium. On this compound, Fernando was unable to improve his time, partly down to traffic, but I’m sure that tomorrow he will find a way to go better. Race pace seems good here and now we face a careful analysis of all the data we gathered to see where we are compared to our main rivals.”

    Very well!
The car seems to be fast on one lap and the long runs looked very good as well.

Optimistic, that's what we like and it's a real difference to last year, hope it translates into another great performance. And tifosi1993, thanks for the images, awesome, brilliant pics.

Damn right. Going to be strange talking about Barcelona like the entire season doesn't hinge on an update to be brought there.

    True that.

Well, we started awfully and that's an understatement. In Melbourne all of Lotus, Macca, Red Bull, Merc and even Toro Rosso were faster in qualy. Come race day we were stronger but Alonso had to drive like a man possessed to keep Maldonado behind. Same thing in Malaysia but there FA did amazingly well in the wet. China and Bahrain, more of the same.

Hamilton was going to dominate the weekend in Spain if he hadn't received that penalty. Our best results (Malaysia, Valencia and Hockeinheim) needed monster performances from FA. Then in the last 4 or so races we were nowhere near RBR and Macca with Lotus being the team which we were matching. Not for a single race I thought the F2012 was a car capable of lights to flag kind of performance.

It's been quite some time of having such a win like in China 2013. Even in 2010 I didn't feel as confident because when the RB wasn't too busy blowing engines or Vettel playing bumper cars/Mario Cart we were never too far ahead.

I can see Kimi winning this race. Of course I hope for different, but I just have a feeling. Ferraris should be strong, and it is imperative they continue laying the smackdown on vettel

Lotus is strong this season. They plan to bring update of their suspension which help the car's performance (Tomba @ F1Technickal) and to further test the DRD soon.

I really like the fact SF continues to bring updates that work. Correlation is key. Hoping for P1!

I imagine for SF to have a working wind tunnel is like a 13-year-old buying an Xbox. :D
