It was a very bad mistake to try and use the DRS when it didn't work the first time. No harm in trying again but we should have waited and tried it closer to the time of our 2nd planned pitstop. We went for an extremely risky strategy. Alonso could have finished 3rd to 5th without that mistake. When you go for risky strategies the odds are always going to be against you. Seems we never learn and instead blame it on bad luck.

I think that's a great point. Why not just hang out until the next stop and then try it right before pitting again? It was a huge gamble. Sure we're talking about it several hours after the fact, but I'm surprised the team didn't think of that at the time.

There was no guarantee he would be within DRS zone before his 2nd stop. Not like he can use DRS when he pleases just to try it.

From the highs of last week to the lows of this one.

The most biter pill is that when we have major issues or a DNF Vettel wins, but when we win, he is also right there.

We will never make up the gap that way.

There are still many races to go and I hope our hard times are behind us.

You are right. Let' forget it, put it behind us and move on. Things like this happens. That life, and that is sport. Sometime you have luck and sometimes you don't have. This weekend unfortunately we didn't had.

Just got to take the rough with the smooth. I thought Fernando and the team did a brilliant job to salvage a few points after our DRS failure. It was like having one hand tied behind our backs. I also think Ferrari were right to give Fernando the option to try the DRS again too. It didn't work out, but then, life's like that. A good old fashioned human decision that just sadly didn't work out. Our car is fantastic, and while it's a shame we haven't collected the number of points equal to the cars performance/potential, I fancy we can do great things and win this championship.

if there's one thing that makes me happy about this race is that Ferrari without DRS is as good as Macca with DRS

"I guess that with all these great minds here on the forum giving pointers to the team, Ferrari would never lose a single race."

    Captain Hindsight to the rescue!

Really what's the point of arguing about the DRS anymore? What happened, happened. All this complaining and arguing won't change anything. Just let it go!

I think that is the best thing that anyone has said for a long time on TSN, It will only be a long three weeks if people here start carrying on about an unlucky day.

Move on Fernando and the team have too and focus on the next race and just hope our Karma turns around now.

In 2010 pettle never led the championship till de last race. All is not lost. It, s a long year and we have a car that can beat the bulls in a straight fight. You have to take the rough with the smooth. We l be on the top step again sooner than later.

I know it was far from what we expected, but i still beleive this is the year we are nose to nose, the prancing horse and the red bull.

Imho Pat Fry has finally caught up with them, we have built a contender.

It's this bad luck that we seem to have more often than the redbulls that keeps bringing me down. Alonso front wing was a gamble in sepang, but this DRS today simply destroyed a race that he was going to charge for the win. so 2 pitstops for fernando, for that same problem, then felipe pitting for a flat tyre, not once but twice.

a friend made a funny comment at the time, but now it feels like what do we have to lose? the idea was that, you know those shows when they run the ferrari F1 around a closed street circuit for the crowd to see? do you think next up they should have both cars do a few burnouts on st peter's square? ( please no offenses in this, just trying not to feel depressed for 3 weeks, we could do in jerusalem too, anything goes)

And this is the most Vettel has scored after four rounds besides 2011. Tough times.

Does anyone here know if the DRS system could be overridden and tried during Alonso's first pit stop??
Could have saved around 16/18 seconds if we where allowed to do that !

That's true, but I would think he would have a bunch of opportunities since he dropped back so far and had a bunch of cars to overtake.

Disapointing race after the high of yesterday...we'll get our turn...we gave the machine, we have the driver...we will have the championship! What surprised me however was how early massa pitted on his first stint?!?!

    Exactly!!
I was thinking alonso would try it again on the last lap of 2nd pit stop..there wasnt any harm trying it before everytime he boxed to check if it was working properly

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but that doesn't mean that there isn't a bigger underlying problem within the team. SF have a winning mentality and because of that we choose to make decisions if it helps us to win even if it means bringing in more risk. I don't think we judge the magnitude of risk accurately enough when we're presented with a certain situation. Of course bad luck plays a role but taking on too much risk or the wrong risk just compounds the problem.
