It's looking increasingly clear that it won't be easy to beat Vettel. We need to start at least in the front 2 rows to have a decent chance if Vettel gets pole positions. Unfortunately, Mercedes will be a hindrance to us in the race as they tend to qualify well. We need to up our game in qualifying.
I think p3 or p4 for at least one of cars would be a good result.
Fernando Alonso: “The signs from today are positive, as we were quick in both the morning and afternoon and the car seems to be well balanced on light and heavy fuel loads. But it is always premature to try and draw conclusions on a Friday when everything seems to be going well, because in the past we have seen how our competitors can take off in qualifying. We have a great deal of data to analyse this evening, especially because the rain in the morning meant we had to squeeze almost all our planned programme into the second session when it was dry. The feeling is definitely good and even though we are aware it won’t be easy, we are sure we can fight it out with the best. I don’t expect any great surprises compared to Bahrain and I think the top group is now defined, with Red Bull, Mercedes, ourselves and Lotus, although we need to see how much McLaren manages to improve, while also keeping an eye on Force India, who have been very strong in qualifying and the race”.
Felipe Massa: “Everything went well today, even if this morning’s rain reduced the amount of time we had to test everything we had planned for the first session. We began that job as soon as the track dried and then finished it off in the afternoon session, paying maximum attention to the handling of the car on both types of tyre Pirelli has brought on this track, especially the new Hard. Even on the long run, the car seemed competitive and this makes me confident and so I hope we can continue to do well right to the end of the weekend”.
Pat Fry: “This morning’s rain strongly affected the work we had planned for today, preventing us from completing a sufficiently representative evaluation of the updates we brought here to Barcelona. We have got an immediate and positive validation for some of these, but with others, we will have to wait for the next races and hope for better weather. But it’s normal that if, apart from evaluating updates, one also has to pay particular attention to the tyres, a vitally important element in this season, everything gets more complicated. When the sun finally came out, thanks to a programme split between the two drivers, we were able to get a substantial amount of data on the Hard and Medium compounds. First impressions seem positive: both on a single flying lap and on a long run, we were always in the top five and the new Hard compound shows improvement in terms of performance and degradation. As usual, now we can expect a long night analysing in depth the performances we have seen today and making a more precise comparison with the competition”.
Alonso is right, the top group is defined. And that is also our problem, the top group is big this year. This means it is easy to loose points and at the same time it will be difficult to win 30 on fingerboy.
But we ARE at least part of the top group, so it can be done.
And I strongly believe Ferrari will do it.

You can run like the wind, but you'll never outrun the Prancing Horse
And it's going to start soon
This is again looking promising but that damn Bieber is still there, waggling his finger with contempt....if only we can get one over on him, then at least we'll stand a chance of staying in touch. My nerves are already jangling.![]()
Well we can't expect Red Bull to just drop to bottom of the grid. Ferrari seem quite strong and they have very good Race Pace. It all looks promising.
Ciao,
Forza Ferrari!!!!
We have been watching F1 these past few years, so we know that while Ferrari isn't always as fast in Q as it is in FP, RedBull isn't always as fast in the races as they are in Q or FP. In the race, Ferrari have had their number every time this year, IMO.
In Stefano Domenicali, we have a team boss who has proved to be a leader. - Luca diMontezemelo
that would have been even more impressive had Fernando sat all along in the car and just drove off right after it touched the ground

Alan McNish......
"Grosjean's long runs are very, very quick".. We pray he's not near the front in quali.
.
"Rear trye degradation for Mercedes"...So, not a big threat overall then?
"Ferrari...a good car in every situation"...
But no mention of RBR. Hmm..Could this be the grid positions after quali? SV, FA, MW, KR, FM? BUt LH? Grosjean?

Engineers are Engineers! LOL, Newey's face tells the story of F1 and how it works. Concepts and solutions!
Ciao,
Forza Ferrari!!!!
All the engineering on earth goe's out the window if the driver can't get passed the famous turn 1 in one piece, and a pit crew error could blow the millions just spent. F1 is great!
Newey's face! Fantastic!
Massimo, you're a cad! Nice one, as is the expression on Newey's face, would love this to be the turning point of the season and for us to deliver on our promise. For once, let's hope Bieber exits stage left.![]()

I'm hoping Lotus can't do much in qualy, the Lotus is the only car that can beat us on real race pace so... I still think RBR and Merc are faster than us in qualy, but our drivers are perhaps more consistent than the RBRs, perhaps we can match, but still I don't like the Mercs, one of the best in qualy, definitly not the best in the race, so they can onyl "block" the others, therefore we need to be in front of them very soon in the race, if it doesn't happen in qualy.. If Fernando can start from p3, it's looking good, even P5 wouldn't per se be bad, but, will depent on the first stint, if we can make up ground or not...I really hope the Mercs will go for a sort of race set-up (looking at Bahrain, ROS normal -> pole, 9 in race; HAM race setup and better result so perhaps they're trying to do something like that) If we can start from row 2, and RBR from row 1, we can really do something. But indeed, we are good and have a very good car, but RBR as wel, so sometimes we can win, sometimes RBR, but we need to make up 30 points, that means that we can't afford any mistakes, but at the same time we need to attack. I really hope for some 0point finishes for Vettel in the following races
