I've been screaming out the same here! Hards should have been our qualy tires!!!

Or that something we are not doing right in Q3? Are we not getting our tyres to optimum temperature before doing the fastest lap? Soemthing isn't right when we're so fast in Q1 and Q2 but slower in Q3 relative to the competition. I know Red Bull take it more easy in Q1 so that they can use the same set of tyres for Q2 but do not believe that all the other teams have the same approach. Some head scratching to do.

We will end up with being further down the gird if we run flying lap on hard in q3 - we will for sure behind two lotus and red bulls. What really surprised us is the gap between Merc and us - half a second! That's is really worrying. Though their race pace has problem, they can complicate the races.

It's like what happened to us in Q3 is a lot like what happened to Lotus in Q3 in the previous race. Very strange.

They didn't show what happened between Massa and Webber on the NBC coverage, but both Hobbs and Matchett saw it and said it was not penalty worthy, so I'm a bit surprised.

My hope is buoyed by the fact the Ferrari has been much better on race pace that in qualy, so a good start by both our guys hopefully will do the job.

Don't play dumb with me. I'm better at it than you are.

Ouch... I don't personally know anyone who went through that so, does it mean he will be out of action for a long time? (are we talking weeks or months)

Disappointing in the extreme, and now Felipe has a 3 place drop on grid, talk about it never rains......all we can do is fight back, stay clean, and hopefully pick them off with our race pace, any foul-ups on lap 1 will be a disaster. It's all in the lap of the Gods, as ever, and I wonder why we all get so stoked up about FP and Quali sessions when it all becomes a lottery in Q3. My nerves are already in shreds, but I'm sure we can come out of this in a better place, if only luck would help for once.

Spanish GP – Montezemolo’s flying visit to Montmelò
Montmelò (Barcelona), 11 May –Luca di Montezemolo made a lightning visit to the Catalunya Circuit today, his first track appearance of 2013. The Ferrari President had decided to come and support the Scuderia on this Saturday of the Spanish Grand Prix. It was also an opportunity for him to have various meetings at the highest level, from Bernie Ecclestone to the main technical and commercial partners of the Maranello marque, to get an overview on many topics, starting with the current state of Formula 1.

Meeting the media after qualifying, Montezemolo had this to say on what the two Prancing Horse cars achieved today and the prospects for tomorrow. “I witnessed a great team, very focussed on its work. All in all, I am not disappointed and what gives me cause for hope is the race pace we showed yesterday. Maybe today we could have hoped for a little bit more, at least one car on the second row. We were losing a bit of time in the final sector, but we saw that, apart from Rosberg, everyone is very evenly matched. Fernando will start from the clean side of the track and here, the straight leading down to the first corner is very long, so maybe some places can be made up right from the start.”

On the topic of the future of Formula 1, Montezemolo expressed himself thus: “I can only repeat what I have maintained for so long: this sport must remain a true laboratory of cutting edge technology and advanced research and must serve as a training ground for our engineers. I think there will be some interesting changes in the near future and I will do my utmost to ensure we go in that direction.”

Montezemolo also wanted to wish Pat Fry a speedy recovery, after the Englishman was admitted to hospital in Barcelona this morning with appendicitis. It’s also a time for happier wishes as the Scuderia’s Team Principal, Stefano Domenicali turns 48 today.

Before leaving the circuit around 5pm, Montezemolo went to the Race Control tower where he met with Charlie Whiting.

We all want that, Dino, and more. Felipe will have a job from back in 9th, just what we didn't need and with Pat Fry indisposed too, things are not exaclty playing into our hands. But thanks for trying to put a better spin on things and tomorrow is another day! Forza ragazzi!

Still confident our boys can do a good job tomorrow. If Massa can keep the pace of the guys in front of him untill he can use DRS he can get some positions back. His speed down the straight is the best among the top ten!!

Spanish GP: Mercedes not confident over tyre woes despite front row
By Jonathan Noble Saturday, May 11th 2013, 17:18 GMT

Ross Brawn says Mercedes cannot be confident enough that it has sorted its tyre woes to rule out a repeat of its Bahrain Grand Prix woes in Spain.

Although the team believes that it has made progress with its degradation issues, Brawn says that it is still unsure about its chances of keeping front row duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton at the head of the field.

"The race is the key part and that is what ultimately counts," said Brawn, when asked by AUTOSPORT if the team was more confident about its prospects than it was in Bahrain.

"It is better if you start at the front end as we are, but having a good set-up and good usage of the tyres is absolutely critical.

"We have spent a lot of time this weekend devoted to it, so I don't think we could have done any more work. But quite frankly we won't know until tomorrow, because you don't know what shape the others are in.

"We were better today on our race sim than we were yesterday, which is good, but whether it is enough we don't know.

"The key thing for us is to run our own race and not try and outrace other people who are better with their tyres, because when you do that you do twice as much damage. So we will run our own race and see where that puts us."

    RACE DAY PLUNGE REPEAT POSSIBLE

When asked if there was a chance Rosberg could drop from pole to ninth like he did in Bahrain, Brawn said: "I think he could do. The thing with the tyres we have at the moment is that everyone out there on track is trying to drive to the limit of the tyres.

"Once you exceed the limit the tyre is gone. It is not a tyre that you can take over the limit, cool it down and then come back again.

"Everybody out there is having to manage the tyres in the best way they can. I think almost any track you go to you can damage tyres and spoil your race - be it Bahrain, here, Monaco, Montreal.

"It is up to the drivers and team to deal with that in the best way and the smartest ones will succeed."

Rosberg reiterated that careful approach, saying Mercedes should not expect a dramatically different experience from what happened in Bahrain.

"I am very cautious because Bahrain was very exciting on Saturday and not a nice experience on Sunday – not enjoyable.

"So I have a bit more caution today, but I am still very happy with pole. It is a great feeling.

"I am sure we have done improvements for the race but the target is to be better than last time. We should not expect massive steps. We want to be a bit better than last time. Lewis finished fifth in Bahrain so that should be the realistic target."

He says we need to improve in general not mostly on qualify as they said in last races. Not so optimistic comments from Alonso.

I don't understand this - as I may have mentioned before.

Mark comes roaring up, on a bend. Felipe holds his line. Yes he's slower that Mark but he doesn't chop and change direction, just holds his course. Mark can overtake on the outside if he wants. He doesn't want to.

What was Felipe supposed to do - dematerialise?!

OK. One more glass then I'm going to bed. it's all too much for me.

Well a bit disappointed after FP3 honestly, and what's with massa penalty!! It was very harsh!! And it's not like it was q3!! And webber made it to q3? Anyways massa bad luck continues,I hope it ends in this qualifying!
As for Alonso,I honestly think that a podium is within reach, but for Alonso to win in normal circumstances is very difficult, unless he does a 2011 start, then he can easily pull away while the rest fight each other!!
Let's hope a good clean start for both the drivers..
    Forza Ferrari!!!

Felipe really got that penalty for nothing. I mean yes, he was impeding Webber but where was he supposed to go then? If he had suddenly moved to the left then maybe Webber would've also moved to the left at the same time and ended up crashing into the back of Massa's car. I can understand why Gutierrez got his penalty but Massa really didn't deserve such a harsh penalty. But oh well, hopefully this injustice will make Felipe angry and then he can use that anger to drive a fantastic race tomorrow.
    KEEP CALM AND LOVE FERRARI
