The FIA resorting to pathetic gimmics![]()
I can get behind the drivers numbers. Never really cared anyway what number they were anyway so no loss.
5 sec penalty. Fine. Make things simpler, Kinda. Gotta be something on TV screen to keep updated on who has a 5 sec penalty. I dont wanna celebrate because Ferrari wins by 3 seconds but then relize he had a 5 second penalty.
But double points in Abu Dhabi.....................ewwww no. I could support it if it was Monaco, or even Spa. Classic races. But not Abu Dhabi.
Tire test next week...Be great if we could watch it!!!!! Id love to.
The FIA, like all governing bodies from your town council to national government to the UN, cannot justify their existence if they are not promulgating new rules. In their minds, there would be no reason for them to exist. So, the make up new, ever more asinine rules every year. They are like dogs pissing on a tree; they want you to know they were there.
Who wants to bet that a certain Finn, driving a red car, will want the number 69?
Hero's come and go, but legends never die!
Should/could look like, the exhaust is in the wrong place.
It is just imaginary car from Bruce Thomson's Sketches.
There are some nice sketches in his site. WonderfulBruce Thomson:
Worked this up in Photoshop, working off a 2013 Ferrari. This would never pass today’s rules, obviously – the wheelbase has been shortened considerably, the nose dropped, the overall height of the car lowered… I suppose that this is sort of a blend between the 2013 Ferrari F138 and the 1988 Ferrari F1/88.http://brucethomsonsketchsite.wordpress.com/

I think Alonso will be number 14, and Raikkonen 69, thats my bet!
Scarbs share his thoughts on what to expect next year, if anyone interested
@ScarbsF1
#F1Discuss Vettel drove the car the way Newey intended it to be run, using the exhaust mid turn for more slow\medium corner downforce
#F1Discuss but its fair to say Red Bull developed the car quite a lot in the second half of the year, unlike other teams
#F1Discuss especially around the diffuser and rear brake ducts, the car gained a lot of top speed for the first time
#F1Discuss Red Bull will lose proportionally more from the 2014 exhuasts than its rivals. but they will still be the top aero team
#F1Discuss there's opportunities and loopholes in the new rules, a straightforward approach to them wont gain laptime
#F1Discuss despite 2014 being much more an engine formula, shear pace will still be aero related
#F1Discuss 2014 1600cc V6 turbo engines, direct fuel injection and a 15k rpm limit, fuel flow is restricted and race fuel down by a third
#F1Discuss 2014 aero, low nose tip, narrower front wings, no rear beam wing and exhaust exits centrally above the gearbox
#F1Discuss 2014 gearbox, now have eight speeds must last longer and the gear ratios must be the same for half of the year
#F1Discuss KERS is joined by ERS-H which uses wasted energy from the turbo. Engines will be as powerful as the current V8s
#F1Discuss Thats hard to predict at this stage, the changes should cost some 5-6s per lap, but winter development will cut that to 1-2s
#F1Discuss by the end of the seaosn laptime WILL be faster IMO
#F1Discuss There will be LOTS of DNFs next year, plus cars limping home with ERS or other powertrain issues. The fastest car might not win
#F1Discuss different manufacturers have their own approaches, these will tend to remain.
#F1Discuss I dont see much radical in the cooling systems inside the sidepods. unless someone finds new magic radiator
#F1Discuss I've not heard official confirmation of Ferrari going back to front pushrod, its not a significant factor either way
#F1Discuss with a high central exhaust diffuser blowing is extremely unlikely, this will lose 1-1.5s of laptime
#F1Discuss However, the exhuast can blow the top rear wing, perhaps via a monkey seat winglet. A small but useful downforce gain
#F1Discuss without proper testing and with enough variables already. Pirelli are tasked with making a tyre to last, so less grip too
#F1Discuss Mercedes asked for wider rear tyres, that was read by some as a sign they had a very powerful engine
#F1Discuss Mercedes have had very good PR working on explaining all about their engine. this imrpoves the perception of their preparedness
#F1Discuss Ferrari and Renault wil be at exactly the same stage at Mercedes having worked on it for the same amount of time

I think the front susp is a factor in the overall development.
Aero will always be important,
Low nose tip??? Hmmm..things could get ugly

Ferrari's car numbers have been "27" & "28" for a very long time now. I hope that tradition continues. Forza Ferrari!
Caterham posted a video of their 2014 chassis crash test. The impact mark it created on the white crash wall looks like the elephant nose design.

Here's a quick sharpie sketch of the @MyCaterhamF1 CT04 based on todays crash test video

Wow..instead of a platypus, we have a duck.....
A duck in McLaren orange. I do wish they would go back to their traditional color.
