well last year we were ONE second OFF pace in quali; hopefully now with the softer compounds that pirelli will bring and along with some updates that are gonna work this time (really here) we'll do much better

becasue, BOY do we need another WIN in order to feel a little more comfortable before summer break...and i'm pretty sure everyone here feels the same, including everyone back at Maranello

Hopefully that's good news for us. It doesn't make any sense to bring hard tires to a track like Hungary. The teams will be doing 1 stop if they did, lol.

This is really good news for us, Lotus and Force India and really bad news for Mercedes. Yes, they will be on pole but they are going to suffer a LOT if it is hot and the tyres aren't the hardest ones.

So once again the governing body that should be able to easily word and explain rulings and rules are unfit in doing it's only function.

Now whether this is because it deliberately did this to favor Merc (bargaining that everybody will cool down and allow Merc to participate ) or because their overpaid and under qualified staff is just too inept to function, this really is ridiculous.

Pirelli toughens stance with F1

Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery says changes must be made to help the tyre manufacturer in Formula One from 2014 onwards or the sport "can find someone else".

It's been a tough year for Pirelli as faults with its tyres have been exposed and then it has been unable to rectify the problems without the agreement of all the teams. A lack of ability to test with a current car - which culminated in the Mercedes tyre test furore - has also riled Pirelli and Hembery told ESPN during an exclusive interview that, while it wants to remain in the sport, the current situation surrounding the tyre manufacturer can't continue.

"They're things that have to change, we couldn't possibly risk putting ourselves in that situation again," Hembery said. "There's no doubt it has to change. If the sport doesn't want to change then they can find someone else. We want to stay obviously but we need to make some changes, we can't just keep talking about it, things now have to change."

Hembery said part of the problem stems from an inability for the teams to agree collectively on certain matters.

"I'm not going to criticise the FIA because I don't think it's necessarily their issue. We were working better with the teams. The teams in the first year were quite a lot better at working together and we've seen that dissipate over the last two and a half years. That's not just with us, I think there's lots of things going on there behind the scenes with new agreements - the Concorde Agreement - and things like that, some teams struggling, so there's a lot more friction between the teams than we've seen before. Whilst individually we have fantastic support from all of them, collectively it's not quite there."

While admitting Pirelli was continuing with its plans for 2014 regardless, he warned that the tyre manufacturer could recover if it ended up pulling out at late notice.

"We're working forward for next year. Time is passing on. I mean, we don't need to do Formula One to survive as a business; it's a part of the company. In November we might be packing up and going and then it's somebody else's problem, but we've made every effort we can to get things sorted. We haven't given any deadlines, we're just working on; maybe we're silly doing that, maybe we should have insisted on things being sorted. It's mid-July and I if somebody wants to come in and take over I think they would be very brave, because the issues we've been suffering with would be issues that any company would have problems with, quite frankly."

Lewis Hamilton parties at the Playboy Mansion

Just over a month since Lewis Hamilton parted ways with girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, the Briton took advantage of his single status by attending a party at the Playboy Mansion.

Held in Los Angeles, the ESPY All Star Celebrity Kick Off Party, the eighth edition of the annual event, took place on Monday and included several sports and entertainment personalities including the Mercedes driver.

“Having split from X Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger, Lewis popped over to the Playboy mansion to check out the sights on offer,” reported the Daily Star.

During the German Grand Prix, Hamilton confessed that breaking up with the former Pussycat Doll has been hard on him.

“I am going through a very tough time at the moment with the loss of someone really, really special in my life,” he told Sky Sports F1. “My world has turned upside down.

“I am trying to pull myself together. It's so hard to do,” he added.

Pirelli boss sentenced for espionage
Milan court found Provera guilty, but suspended his jail sentence.

The Financial Times reports that a Milan court found him guilty, but suspended his jail sentence, in an industrial espionage case involving Telecom Italia.
Provera, who denies the charges, was also ordered to pay EUR 900,000.
"I will appeal, convinced that the truth will emerge," he said in a statement.

Mind you, Hembrey mentions further testing with a 2011 car, NOT the 2013, that Mercedes tested with!
Maybe Ferrari won't be interested in it, after all??

Pirelli wants another 1000km team tyre test

Paul Hembery has admitted he would like to organise another 1000 kilometre tyre test, although the last one with Mercedes' 2013 car was highly controversial.

Indeed, F1's official supplier and the Brackley based team were officially reprimanded for the Barcelona session.

But if the FIA's clarified guidelines are followed, Pirelli's contract with the sport actually permits tyre tests with individual teams, and motor sport boss Hembery admitted he is keen to organise another.

Despite the controversy, and the fact Mercedes was penalised by having to sit out the recent Silverstone test, Hembery called that 1000km session "the best we've ever done".

"That's why we want more of it," he told Germany's Auto Bild.

"Maybe we'll do another 1000km test with a 2011 car," said Hembery. "At the end of the year we would also like to do one or two tests with a 2013 car -- one in Brazil and a rain test at Le Castellet."

It is yet another clear indication that, although not entirely certain, Pirelli will be staying in F1 beyond the end of its rapidly-expiring 2013 contract.

But amid the delay in getting a new deal signed, the normal September 1 deadline for revealing the following year's full tyre specification to the teams will blow out.

"We will inform the teams on October 1," said Hembery, revealing that the deadline has been extended.

Pirelli is tipped to produce wider rears for the high-torque V6 engines next year, but otherwise Hembery has hinted that the construction and compounds will be much more conservative than the controversial 2013 tyres.

He said the scandals and criticism were "too much" this year.

first victory with Mercedes in
Hungary, despite the heat being
expected to cause headaches to a
team that has struggled with
degradation in the past.
Pirelli switched to its 2012 design
for the construction of the tyres,
but motorsport boss Paul Hembery
does not believe that change was
responsible for Mercedes'
improved form.
"[It's] something they have done,"
said Hembery.
"We were looking at race [and] just
waiting, thinking at some stage it
would be a problem, but it wasn't.
"It was a surprise to us. It was hot
for everybody, everyone was
suffering.
"It was all about temperature going
in, nothing to do with the tyre; it
was the heat going into the tyre -
you can do what you want with the
tyre, it doesn't affect the heat
going in."
Hembery said it was only a matter
of time before Mercedes solved its
problems and was able to replicate
in the races what it has shown in
qualifying.
The team has been on pole seven
times this year, but has only won
three races.
"They obviously have a lot of pace,
as soon as everything clicks they
were going to be a very
competitive act," added Hembery.
"In Hungary it worked and we will
see how they go in Spa.
"If they do get that consistency
with the pace they have shown
then they will be a major
competitor."

How does he know how and why Mercedes have improved there car, for me he is patronising formula 1 fans all over the world, the truth is Mercedes and Pirelli together committed a sporting crime, and got away with no punishment. When Piquet Junior delibertley crashed his car, well we all know the story Pat Symonds, Flavio Briatore were punished for committing a sporting crime, they broke the rules and were punished, for me what Ross Brawn, Hembery, and even Charlie Whiting did was worse, to plan a 3 day test in the open in such a secret way was disgusting.

I Don't Like this Paul Hembery at All! He is a VERY Person to Direct and Represent a large, respected company like Pirelli! Why haven't they Fired Paul Hembery yet??????????????????????????? Paul Hembery's statements and comments are Hurting the Pirelli Company in HUGE Ways and his activities of running the F1 Tire Supply Situation have given Pirelli a huge Black Eye and IS Hurting Pirelli's reputation!!!!!!
