They're serious race cars. Easily up there with Formula 1 cars.

Its really not much of a step down, more a side step.

I wanted to see him at Ferrari, I was gutted when he turned down the 2013 drive there, but Porsche is still one of my favorite brands. Atleast its a prestigious brand, not Red Cow.

So Mateschitz knew all along but Horner didn't know until the very last minute? All is not rosy within that team.
yeah there is some barely contained drama going on there.

Webber will be sponsored by Red Bull at Porsche apparently. Wearing a Red Bull helmet.

I have to wonder if its silence money.

I wish him well in his future racing endeavors but hope he stays behind our guys
for the rest of this season. Too bad he didn't get to spend some time with his
    buddy Fernando on our team.

He did play second fiddle to Massa in 2008-09, so that should not be a problem. Thing is that he is more consistent that Vettel, that could give him chance to beat Vettel in the championship (provided Red Bull give him a fair chance )

Having said that, my money is on Ricciardo (Will bow down to pressure from Marko, Vettel, Horner & it will highlight the existence of STR)

same here at BBC UK page ... Horner not informed.

In the few interviews I've read so far Webber never mentioned Vettel in any other way that Malaysia had nothing to do with his decision.

Webber said in a news conference at the British Grand Prix on Thursday that he would miss the competition of the best drivers.
"We all strive to get to the pinnacle and I've been with JB (Jenson Button), Lewis (Hamilton), Fernando (Alonso), these guys for a long time, racing."
Webber added in an interview published on his website: "I realise F1 is seen as the absolute pinnacle of motorsport and I've worked with some incredible people, in particular (Red Bull chief technical officer) Adrian Newey.
    Horner:
"I think the guys in the factory are a bit more disappointed that they read it on the internet than heard something direct, but that is the way these things are sometimes."
... of course the guys in the factory ... Everybody loves Mark in the factory ...

In Austrian Mainstream Radio Kimi gave an interview (in his distinctive style). And since I've heard that I changed my mind. I think he will do it as he mentioned very clearly that he his contract with Lotus ends this year and RBs is a winner car. So all signs are pointing that way.

In the same reportage in the Austrian Mainstream Radio also Vettel got is spot: in German he told that he has (of course) no say about his new team mate and all what he said about Mark was: we respected us on track (as seen on Malaysia) and thats what counts ...

Such a shame that Ferrari don't return to this series and take on Porsche, Audi, Toyota etc, but I suppose it would dilute their F1 efforts too much as they're manufacturing the entire chassis/engine combo. Mark would then have possibly become a Ferrari driver!

I agree with you on that wisepie, but I believe even Ferrari can't manage an F1 team and Le Mans team at the same time! Would really like to see Ferrari beat the Audi's.

I think Webber not telling Horner is just simply a sign he doesnt disrespect Horner. He told Mateschitz ages ago so he has nothing to hide, I think Mark has realized that Horner is nothing but a pawn. Neither driver respect him or really care what he says. Helmut runs the show.

I hope Hulkenberg is not the replacement for Webber and I hope Hulkenberg's next move will be the Ferrari.

    I could not agree more.
Not sure why people think that Kimi could go to RBR.

For the time coming we don't need anyone to move to Ferrari. We have two excellent drivers.

I only have to look over at Merc and see how Lewis signed up as #1 guy, but has a teamate who is a #1 driver ability wise and not getting the old Todt " let him pass" treatment from Ross, which to me is a modern day miracle! The Jr. Chin over at Red Bull will never let the likes of a Kimi anywhere near Webber's vacant seat. And in all honesty , he's certainly keeping up his end by winning and bringing in the points in his rocket ship. But for a gear box; Alonso would have another 25 points to worry about passing .

its a fact that Mark helped sebastian to win many races by blocking the other cars and sebastian to get away from the start........ and seb stating that mark never helped is rediculous, in comparision to felipe and roman he helped red bull to clinch constructors championship... with all respects to mark for his gentleman nature GOOD BYE MARK!!!!!!!!

The only thing Mark has to do now is to beat Bieber as often as he possibly can.
For himself of course and maybe a little for us.....

Ahead of his retirement from Formula One at the end of the season Mark Webber appeared on the BBC's Top Gear and beat team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

Webber was driving the original "reasonably-priced car" - which remains a Suzuki Liana for the Formula One drivers - with Lewis Hamilton top of the times with a 1:42.9s, 1.1s clear of Vettel in second place.

While Webber was just unable to match Hamilton's time, his lap of 1:43.1s was enough to beat Vettel by a whole 0.9s and prompted host Jeremy Clarkson to say "You have beaten Sebastian Vettel in the same car."

During the interview, Webber was asked if he will miss his team-mate, to which he replied after a long pause: "Probably not a huge amount, no."

Pushed on whether he's ever been tempted to punch Vettel, Webber joked "My dad always said you shouldn't hit boys!"

I'm surprised no-one has suggested that Webber could be persuaded to forget Porsche and now sign up for the Scuderia. No, I don't much like the idea either.

He will be missed. The only likable person in RBR left. Sadly Perez ain't free, they could take him up and be a full package.

It's multi-year contract. Not sure if they actually said how many years.
