I feel that it's too early for a do-or-die approach. Isn't Alonso like 21 points behind Vettel with still many races to go.

it is not do or die. fact is we would have been 4th at best and probably finish 3rd in the race if we went with everyone else.

now we gotta a shot at doing more and not losing much either as we have more durable tires at start and our fastest tires at the end.

This. I had the same thoughts The option tyres are probably more sticky and they are faster at the start. So unless someone in front makes bad start overtaking will be harder than before. On the other hand the drivers behind might use the prime tyres as well.

I checked the weather and it should be sunny, air temps around 25C. The track is going to be hot :)

Indeed, but turn 1 at Nurburgring is tricky, so anything can happen, positive and negative.. Perhaps we can take RIC and Mark if he has a bad start.. put otherwise, trying to maintain position, take care of the tyres, and when it's clear we push.. You can't expect to much from the first stint..

We weren't 1 second off the pace... In Q2 Massa did 1:29.8 and could probably go quicker by a tenth or so and pole time is 1.29.3. So we were about 4 tenths off the pace of Lewis, that is not too bad.

I still think we are more off the pace, but remarkably, we were able to do our maximum laptime immediatly, RBR and Merc didn't probably because of hotter temps

I don't think Ferrari went with this trategy just to do something different. They said, that based on simulations, they believe starting on primes is better for the race.

Could well be, we can use fresh softs, Fernando did good on soft in FP2, so.. perhaps we gain more time.. The biggest problem with starting on prime is that there's a good chance they won't last long, so perhaps, if others start on medium tyres, the gap the front runners have isn't big enough, and then there's traffic..
