Fernando is 0.403s away from pole and Felipe baby is 0.541s off the pace. This is not a small amount of difference and is definitely a car performance problem. If anything we are extremely lucky Kimi and Webber suffered because realistically we are 4th fastest car in qualy. And for a team with an ambition for WDC and WCC this is not enough.

At Hungaroring there is a big difference between odd and even staring places. Takin that into consideration maybe our drivers can gain some positions on start.

@andrewbensonf1: Problems for Grosjean - his car's front floor has failed a deflection test. Stewards looking into it

Alonso could be promoted to 4th place! Lets see what the stewards decide

I believe this is bad news. Not only both Felipe and Fernando would be moved to the dirty side but Grosjean is our best bet Vettel to be denied a win as we don't have the pace. Hopefully Romain won't be punished.

Don't be blind and becauze of one tree not see whole forest. It is not just today. It is for the past who kmows how many races. We are builing our hope on RG taking out SV!?! And what will happen to LH, NR and KR and make us win the race?
My point is that if you are trying to win WDC and WCC one needs to relly on itself. Not to pray for miracles.

That's bad news in a way. He could have challenged Vettel for the win. Vettel should win this easily now unless our race pace suddenly improves but it wasn't looking as good as the Lotuses or Red Bulls.

    Agreed.
.4 off pole position in hungary is not bad ,infact its really good.
3weeks ago i was convinced that we will be 1 sec off pole in hungary.
IF WE ARE CLOSE TO FRONT IN A HIGH DOWNFORCE TRACK THEN CAN WE EXPECT MUCH BETTER IN SPA AND MONZA....maybe pole but more importantly a victory.
If we somehow get those 2 wins we have a chance(atleast1) in WDC beacuse pettel will be back in asia leg

I share your concerns if Grosjean gets moved but if he doesn't and ends up leading the race, will he let Kimi through? Definitely needs to dispose of Vettel, whatever!

Are the FIA stupid, surley if one car is found illegal, aka roman, surley you check the other sister car, aka Kimi, or is that to much common sense?!?!

Good performance by felipe, only one tenth of Alonso, a stunning lap it must be said! Ferrari, you never fail to disappoint on Saturday! vettel, I am not watching you tomorrow!

Rob, sorry but I disagree. This is racing not statistic. By my standards it really doesn't matter if you are 0,001 or 1,001 sec slower. You are slower. Period. And beside that SV is regulary finishin in front of FA and increasing lead in WDC.

This potential promotial I really would not like to see. In that case both Ferraris will be starting from the dirty side of track, and when the red lights go off they will lose places.

Hungarian GP: Romain Grosjean escapes penalty for Lotus floor issue
By Jonathan Noble and Edd Straw Saturday, July 27th 2013, 17:45 GMT

Romain Grosjean and Lotus will keep third on the Hungarian Grand Prix after stewards accepted that damage caused a floor infringement.
The Frenchman's car failed the mandatory 'flexi-floor' test as "the front floor deflected more than 5mm vertically when the load was applied vertically" according to a stewards' statement.
The penalty for this rules breach was potentially exclusion.
But Lotus was confident that the issue had been caused by damage.
It said that an impact with the Turn 11 kerb in Q2 had resulted in a floor support breaking, resulting in test irregularity.
The officials accepted this explanation and chose to take no further action.
    The stewards' statement said:
"Based on the telemetry it was apparent that the car suffered an impact during Q2 resulting in a vertical acceleration ranging from -7.3g to +11.1g. Video evidence verified the car bottomed at Turn 11 consistent with the telemetry.
"It is considered reasonable that this impact caused a fracture in the floor stay of car #8.
"It was confirmed by physical examination that the floor stay on car #8 was identical to that on car #7 which was intact.
"'Lifing documents' (which show the history of each part) indicate the car #8 part had been fitted for in excess of 600kms including a full race.
"It is the conclusion of the stewards that the failure of this part was due to the impact in Q2 and subsequently caused the car to fail to meet the requirements of article 3.17.5.
"Accordingly this is deemed to be a case of accidental damage, not a case of non-compliance."
Grosjean will therefore retain his third place on the grid, behind Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes and Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull.

Spa will be probably cold and Pirelli brings the hardest compounds. I am expecting a horror.

We should do the same too. Build a flexing floor, and later claim it's a damage

Let's see it on the bright side...better start 5 than 4, more traction on clean side. And if Crassjean strikes on RB nº1...ou yeah!

Ahead of the race weekend Alonso made it clear that his sole intention is to beat Vettel and reduce the gap in the championship ahead of the summer break. While he has qualified three places behind Vettel, Alonso said fifth place was a good position to be starting from and that he can attack Vettel from the outset.

"I have the chance," Alonso said. "If we started eighth or ninth and he was on pole then there's no way we can arrive to him with the start and the different strategies we can do around the pit stop times etc. But he starts second and we start fifth, so the first opportunity will be at the first corner…"

Alonso also described fifth place on the grid as "a little miracle" as Ferrari has not tended to be strong at the Hungaroring.

"Definitely I think it was a little miracle today being fifth. It is a track that has not historically been too good for Ferrari. With the slow corners and the traction you need here, to be a little bit closer to the pole position today is good news; especially after being tenth at Silverstone and eighth at the Nurburgring, coming back to the top five is good news. The laps were good, the preparation was good and the team was doing a good job setting up the car for the characteristics of this circuit."
