    At least a translation.

I don't think Ricciardo is good enough to deserve a seat at a top team. He's an excellent qualifier but usually gets beaten by Vergne in races.

Good news is Red Bull will suffer in the WCC next year.

Is this another of those German rumours? Read somewhere this week that the Mercedes engine has 100 horsepower advantage over the Renault and Ferrari.

My spider-sense tells me these German publications are full of it.

I would be shocked if Red Bull hired Ricciardo for 2014. Unless they think Vettel can win both titles by himself...

"Usually" is incorrect. Ricciardo finishes ahead of Vergne most of the time. He 'occasionally' gets beaten by Vergne.

Their record since 2012 (excluding races where at least one retires) is Vergne 11-9 Ricciardo and in points scored it's Vergne 29-21 Ricciardo.

Yeah but in all the races Vergne has retired this year (there have been 4 so far) he was behind Ricciardo in all of them. That is just a statistic manipulated by the high attrition rate of the car.

The gap is no were near as large as in qualifying, id say Ricciardo qualifies ahead 80% of the time but only races ahead around 60%. But in a front running team qualifying is very important.

I hope Vettel gets a teammate who is more of a benchmark than Ricciardo (or Webber or Bourdais). Raikkonen would be ideal.

I think if Red Bull have Vettel and Kimi on board, we'll have yet more grief for a while, at least with Ricciardo, it won't be such a threat. But then again, it could be Merc who destroy our future hopes if the engine rumour is anything to go by.

What are you basing this on? Ricciardo has the highest ever dry qualifying record for Toro Rosso, better than Seb even.

I take your point but TR have only qualified well on certain circuits and Ricciardo doesn't seem to maintain it during races, for whatver reason. Nothing against him, just think he'd be less competitive than Kimi.

Always wanted to see Danny get the drive. Such a nice guy, in person and on TV too. I think Kimi would be happier staying at Lotus, so he doesn't have to do so much PR.

Good luck to him and lets hope the rumours are true.

    What puzzles me:

If Red Bull are indeed taking the Mercedes threat seriously, how does signing Ricciardo address that. Merc has Hamilton and Rosberg, and the solution to that problem is to hire Ricciardo alongside Vettel? What if these two don't have the fastest car on the field, what then?

    Something's not right here.

Red Bull ran Daniel in the car against Vettel. They have endless telemetry from his Toro Rosso drives. They know what he's capable of.

The answer would be simple, like many were saying post Silverstone he matched Vettel in the times.

If I was Horner, I would definitely sign Ricciardo. He is fast, justifies existence of STR & more importantly RB can easily put weight on him to play the 'driver no. 2'.

Purely rumor at this point, but it would make sense for Red Bull to someday take in a talent from Torro Rosso. It's a strong mid field team, and as a B team for Red Bull, that's probably where they develop their young talent.

I wished Ferrari had a B team to do that too, they can bring in young talent like Bianchi and prepare them for a drive at Ferrari if they prove their worth

Is this Red Bull's "real" secret weapon?

Not really, it's just a team used by RB to test & develop new talented young drivers. Secret weapon still remains Newey. Lol

BILD is absolutely full of it. It might be true RB signed Ricciardo as Vettels team mate, makes sense, but everything else in that article is pure BILD drivel.
Of course it would have been more fun to see how Vettel would deal with Kimi, but RB would never put two roosters in the same yard. No leading team would do that imho.

And to take points from other teams on track, and also lay down and move over for the Sr. team.

Don't play dumb with me. I'm better at it than you are.

Yes, but the german press is not supposed to mention that.

I believe choosing Ricciardo by redbull would be like shooting to its own leg. I think Kimi is the best option for redbull.

As much as i and rest of F1 world would love to see Kimi at RBR, where Vettel would be really judged isnt going to happen. Least with Daniel, they getting a good do as we say, im happy t be in RBR seat #2 to Vettel and not really challenge him for wins etc etc.

Everyone thinks Ricciardo is the good option because of number one or number two situation but i think the results would be different.

Nico Hulkenberg would deliver the same results like Raikkonen IMO. So if Ferrari is going to replace Massa, I don't think Luca would eat his own words to take Raikkonen again. So Hulkenberg would be the replacement IMO.

Hulkenberg is not on Raikkonens level! We can not even know if he is better than Massa!
