hmm looks like we'll focus on downforce more than top speed. RW angle more than that i expect.

They seem to have decided on this one:

I think sometimes Ferrari make the final decisions on Saturday, after analyzing all data overnight. So we may never know until FP3 tomorrow.
Ferrari F14 T - Monza front wing06 September 2014
For qualifying and the race in Italy, Ferrari - like last year - are using a new front wing with the upper forward flaps replaced by two vertical turning vanes. Of course the two designs are different, since this year's must be narrower to comply with regulations. Note also the difference in the main plane and standard flap - the F138 had a single-flap solution, while the current F14 T has kept a three-flap layout. This gives more consistent airflow to the underfloor of the car.

Such a move surely would benefit Ferrari.

Throw money and a contract at Bob Bell, Marco. Would be a fantastic signing. Now... Ross, oh Ross, where are you Ross!![]()
"Certainly not concerning the drivers. But as far as technicians yes, because as I said earlier we had a lack of specific knowledge in the power unit project,” admitted Montezemolo.

So we knew we would struggle in designing a competitive PU? Why didn't Ferrari ask for help from Fiat on this? Too much pride?
Neither did Mercedes and it turned out quite OK.
"Leave the gun. Take the cannoli."
And they did not need to collaborate with any other companies to produce their power unit.
That said, Merc, Renault, and Ferrari were the only 3 companies with recent experience in F1 engines, while FIAT doesn't even make any kind of high performance engine. So no one can help us really, certainly not FIAT
Ferrari is part of Fiat corporation so such a collaboration would take place in house. Fiat have quite a number of good engineers and other facilities and they certainly could help with this matter if the need would arise.
"Leave the gun. Take the cannoli."
From recollection, Mercedes approached one of their other divisions outside of F1 to assist them with their PU design. If Ferrari were too proud to ask for help because they see themselves as separate entities to that Fiat, then that is a big mistake. You have to work together to succeed particularly when the assignment such as developing this breed of PU as per the FIA specifications. It's a team effort and Ferrari went for it alone. I do not believe for one moment that they knew they were in trouble until preseason testing.
Again, what help could FIAT possibly offer? They do not have any experience in the kind of engine technology we're talking about here. They do not manufacture performance engine, they do not have experience with electrical power recovery system. FIAT is in a different kind of automobile industry. If you want to claim that Ferrari should have collaborated with someone else, you have to pick someone who actually have something Ferrari don't, someone who have experience in making sports and performance cars, not just anyone.
And why is it suddenly any issue now that FIAT is talking over Ferrari? FIAT has never ever came up in the past in any discussion.
Seems like you're just looking for reasons to attack Luca DM.
I can see a lot that FIAT could offer, and what's more, I don't believe the Ferrari engineers would be so arrogant as to believe that no engineer at FIAT could possibly have a good and applicable idea. I think the FIAT patented multiair system is clever and shows the company's creative engineers can come up with good ideas. FIAT also has resources and infrastructure that may also be utilized.
Maybe I'm a little biased because I like the Arbath so much, but they do pack a lot of grunt into that car.
It makes sense to me to ask for the creative minds over at FIAT to offer suggestions and to develop ideas that may end out helping the team.
Maybe because the tech FIAT has isn't applicable to F1? That is assuming FIAT even cares to get involve in Ferrari's F1 program to begin with.
And as I've mentioned, no one has ever brought this up before, claiming FIAT should work with Ferrari on the F1 project. Now suddenly it's an issue and people try to blame Luca for everything.
The point is if you don't have the right skillsets to develop a large project then you need to do everything possible to try and source them. It is not up to Ferrari to decide whether Fiat can help or not. That is up to Fiat. If Fiat do not have someone themselves maybe they have contacts and can get someone in due course. But you have to ask the question. It is becoming increasingly apparent that it was an ego thing not to ask for help as that would mean going to Sergio who he's had major disagreements with.
Collaborating with Fiat was raised long ago in the 2014 engine thread last year. I raised it myself and so did others.
If we know for sure that FIAT can help us, then yes I agree Ferrari could approach them. But we do not know, and as far as I can see based on the kind of cars FIAT produces, I don't see anything that indicates they could have helped us. Therefore, it's not fair to say perhaps ego came in the way, because that would imply that there are very strong reasons that Ferrari could have benefited by working with FIAT, and the fact that Ferrari did not indicates that something else such as ego was responsible for it.
Perhaps our engine department may have even considered the idea, but decided it's not worth pursuing for technical reasons. We don't know, so it's not fair to start suggesting that ego or something else came in the way.
No-one is a bigger Luca fan than me. I punched walls when I heard the news.
Perhaps if you just consider my post on it's merit. I don't think me suggesting there may be some good ideas in FIAT has anything to do with Luca.
This might shock and amaze you, but not every good idea used in F1 came from F1.
A season like this would be nice:
