I can't think of any benefit to Ferrari in releasing that type of information at this point of the year - just before the engines get homologated - i.e. no performance related upgrades for the rest of the year? So the smart thing to do would be to say silent about engine performance and introduce performance in the guise of reliability upgrades.
Basically although it is impossible to say whether the story is true or not, timing doesn't seem right to me. Ferrari does not seem to have anything to gain from releasing such info. Just my opinion.
Testing has been so absurd and opaque so far that I fear races and the season itself will descend into a farce in general. The good old days where they'd do 100-150 laps a day and immediately set lap times a second or two faster than the previous year are long gone.

Sure, I'm the stupid one...
Montezemolo keeps talking every year about how Ferrari will win. They complain about the importance of aerodynamics in F1 and ask for more engine development, yet when it comes to building a new V6, Mercedes gets a whole 75 hp more out of the same amount of fuel!
"They don't know how Merc gets that much power from the same amount of fuel" - that to me sounds like stupidity (EDIT: incompetence), so maybe you should direct that insult to the engine department of Ferrari. And, while you're at it, put in a few nice words for the aero department as well.
At least the drivers are okay.
NEW front wing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rumour. However, I can see how they might say such a thing so as not to reveal too much about what they really have. Mercedes has been pretty brazen about how much they have been revealing about their car, pictures and all. Maybe Ferrari is trying to fly under the radar. This could make sense because James Allison seems pretty confident about the car, so why would they now reveal their engine sucks? Makes no sense to me. We'll see what happens.
Guys, let's try to keep the dialogue respectable please :)

Rest in Peace Leza, you were a true warrior...
That's always my feeling. If I don't read it from the major reputable news sources, I don't believe it. Rumours do pop up that may or may not be true, but I agree that none of it means anything at this stage. In fact, I still contend that pre-season testing times mean very little at this stage. I'm with you. I'm just waiting for the season to start.
Perhaps we should remember that Kimi (in a Renault) won the first race last year, and he certainly wasn't the favourite by the end of winter testing.
This is not about Kimi, it's saying that it is still very difficult to predict what will happen in Melbourne, this year especially trying to figure out who will win is anybody's guess.
A positive Mr.Raikkonen.
Raikkonen targets race distance on final day
Source: Autosport
Kimi Raikkonen is targeting completing a race distance on his final day of Formula 1 testing on Saturday after a difficult first day in Bahrain.
The Finn managed only 54 laps today, ending the day third fastest, 1.142s off Sergio Perez's fastest time of the day.
He hands over to Fernando Alonso tomorrow but is scheduled to return for the penultimate day, which should be his last run in the car before Friday practice for the Australian Grand Prix on March 14.
The Finn has completed fewer laps than Alonso so far in pre-season testing, with the Spaniard having been able to do some longer runs.
"We will try to do the race distance, for sure," said Raikkonen when asked what the focus will be for his final day in the car."
"I haven't even tried to do it yet. I think Fernando did it so that's something that we are hopefully going to do and just see where we are really.
"[Beyond that], just normal things, trying things, learning again and hopefully we will be ready for the first race of the year."
Ferrari trialled some aerodynamic upgrades in Bahrain today, including a new front wing. Although Raikkonen refused to draw any definitive conclusions, he is cautiously optimistic about progress.
"I am sure they were better otherwise we wouldn't have brought them," said Raikkonen.
"But there are still things to improve and things to try to put things together in the final moments [of testing].
"We will see where we are in the first race."
Raikkonen also claimed he is not worried about Ferrari's reliability relative to other teams.
While Mercedes and McLaren have both covered more ground pre-season, with 3073km and 2687km respectively, but Ferrari has logged only 400 less, with a figure of 2665km.
"I'm sure if we wanted to do 100 laps today, we could do," said Raikkonen.
"We had to do other things and try different things and try to see which way which changes go and learn a little bit because when it comes to race weekends there is not so much time to change stuff.
"At least I will have some idea of which way to go. I'm not too worried."
Really glad to hear that! Some rumors regarding the Mercedes PU being more powerful of the FEr Pu of around 75 Hp, are wide off the mark! #puresciencefiction![]()
KEEP CALM AND LOVE FERRARI
Looks like the focus today was on aero testing the new parts (Front Wing, Rear Wing, cooling changes) and setup work. Short runs = lower lap count.
Just noticed the rear wing.Completely new design(even if in a subtle way).New endplates, the upper part is now more ponty upward and there are more low vertical strakes and with a different form, even the Little horizontal strakes are different. It seems they are correcting parts they got wrong last year(the new windtunnel better then the Toyota one?),it Looks like they tried to expand the flow from the diffuser trough the strakes and it looked good in the windtunnel but not on the track, and now they are getting it.

I hope by wide off the mark, he means Ferrari is better than that, and not worse, lol.
Anyway, he's just another journalist and as such, it's just another one of the many rumors
Of course, not the best Resolution but, look for yourself

The back end of the car looks fantastic. Almost makes up for the front view. Almost.

"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.
