    Just had to share this

Sorry for blotting the landscape but I couldnt resist bringing back a bit of Ramilton bashing.

2007 Ramilton considered himself the reincarnation of Senna.
2007-2009 During his press interviews it was all Me me me, he seemed to forget about the team when the cameras were running.

    And now http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/...145644150.html

Quote Lewis Hamilton: "I know pretty much every single manoeuvre in the book, and that's why I'm the best at my job." So said the British F1 star, whose self-regard is such that he's planning to build a museum celebrating his own achievements. Which, to date, have seen him earn just one world title and get completely overshadowed by both Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso.

In all fairness, they are using an old quote from when Hamilton was much younger and hot-headed.

Except for the fact that Fernando never said that himself, but that it is something that was said about him?

This is an excerpt from this month’s F1 Racing magazine. The article is by Bradley Lord.

"Its no surprise that Hamilton’s infectious enthusiasm is most apparent when he’s talking about what he knows and loves best: being a racing driver. And, to his mind, being the most complete racing driver out there.

The early part of the close season is an annual watershed within an F1 team, when fresh hope once more springs eternal. “It’s probably the most exciting part of the year for me” says Hamilton. “This year at least ...” he adds with a twinkle in his eye. “I go down to and look at the new car and I’m excited when I look at it.” But don’t all new cars look good in November? He laughs. “I don’t look at it and say, ‘That’s a world beater.’ I think ‘How can I make it better?’ and I literally try to work like an engineer.”
This level of involvement is rare; its one thing to have a driver who can give good feedback and who galvanises the team. But another entirely to have on who wants to get down to nitty-gritty of what the designers do. It’s a risk too...

“I spend a lot of time with my aerodynamicists, questioning them, and I’m sure they look at me and go, ‘He’s just a driver, what’s he talking about?’” smiles Lewis. “But I have a proven understanding of the engineering of my car. This year, I was responsible for one of the upgrades that brought us three points of downforce in Spa. We didn’t really perform that weekend, but it stayed on the carfor the rest of the year and it helped. It was something I forced and got put on the car, and it was better, and it was great. You know, I was going to put my signature on it...”

And regarding the 2010 car he says a few interesting this but this jumps off the page:

“I can get away with asking the questions because I am the driver. With some things they’ll say, ‘Actually, your right,’ and I’ve got to continue doing that. I really feel I’m having more input into my car than others are in their car in other teams.”"

But again, he was much younger then... Funnily enough, you will not see this quote endlessly referred to like the "six tenths" one. And in fact, as some people say, the first time Alonso made such comment was in a reply to a Spanish journalists that had asked him about such an statement being made by some McLaren personnel.

Although Alonso and the team cleared the air ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix, the Spaniard has admitted he is still not entirely happy with how he is treated.

"That is always very clear in any team, you know, to have equal opportunities to everybody and to have an equal car to your teammate," Alonso said on BBC Radio. "What I think sometimes, and what I asked the team, is that I gave the team a lot.

"When I arrived in December, I remember the car I drove; I remember the results they had in 2006. And now, you know, I brought to the team half a second, six tenths, whatever, and I don't see anything giving me back.

    "So that's the only thing."

This text is attributed to Edward Gorman; I haven't found the original link, but will post it here if I do sp. Mr Gorman was The Times F1 journalist in 2007.

"I want to tell you about some moments I lived inside the McLaren box during the first time Alonso ran the car on winter 2006 at Jerez.

First time out on track in the morning, I remember Alonso wore a white helmet and overalls, and it was like a couple of laps later when Alonso came back and went into the box directly. He went out of the car and and said to his engineer that "This is not a car, this is a lawnmower" (clearly he is no PR, isn't it?) I felt shocked by that words as I thought everybody inside the box could hear him.

Then he sat with him and rewiewed all the set-up the car had at the moment, the only words I clearly listened were that he wanted the car xx milimeters down at the front. There where so many set-up changes suggested by him that everybody around thought that he was very wrong, but he looked to suggest exact changes in degrees or milimetres for everything.

Next time out on track the car changed like a miracle, and at the end of the day the times had been improved a lot, I thougth to remember that he had been quicker than the testing times of Kimi/Pedro/JPM that year but I'm not sure enought of this data.

The whole team was highly impressed with him that day, as well as the FIA personnel around".

The quotes are Alonso. He said it.

But anyway I have yet to see ANY driver who slates himself, or suggests he is not one of the best. They all believe they are.

The question here, Greig, is whether Alonso said that all on his own accord or whether he was propted to do so. A situation in which a journalist comes and says something like "Fernando, so-and-so at McLaren stated that you brought the team six tenths when you joined in, do you feel that is acknowledged?" and he replies with the quote you provided is very different from a situation in which he brings such figure out of the blue. I always understood that the original quote was in Spanish and was a reply to a question asked along the lines I wrote above; he then repeated the same answer in other interviews he gave on that same day, including (if I am not mistaken) a live interview on BBC radio.

All said and done, i prefer Lewis to Vettel. I think apart from Fernando, Lewis is the only other driver who can turn the race to his advantage.
Yeah, he was a brat but seems to be maturing (finally)..

Fair enough. He is one of the best drivers in F1 and he has the ability to outperform any car. He has done enough in 2013 season to avoid 2011,2012 mistakes (Especially some crashes) and is becoming better driver day by day.

With age usually comes more humbleness and maturity - in Hamilton's case
he IS progressing, albeit quite slowly..............

Last Championship 5 years back, perhaps Hamilton is hungrier than Vettel. Given a good car, he can be very, very dangerous

    Why was that lame?

Gary Anderson spoke about how McLaren without the step nose might lose out on developing as they had less air under the car to work with?

After the launch of 2013 force india car, Andrew green said that stepped noses resulted in disturbed weight distribution and also something like stepped nose advantage wasnt worth it.He also that due to stepped nose they were not able to design car chassis to extreme last year.
