I think its Respect more than affection. Irrespective of the 8 on 10 rating by LDM, the team must know how much Fernando puts into the team/race.Few other drivers can have had the affection shown them that he's had on this site.

The team knows. Stefano have praised Alonso many times and credited him for the results Ferrari achieved with the difficult car. And that radio conversation with Stella yesterday, it shows everyone in the team knows what Alonso brings and they are trying to keep him in the team.
Luca DM just make weird comments to the media from time to time. His comment about his dislike for #1 #2 is going to come back and bite him too I fear, lol.
