Thumbs up It happened today – 14 January

On 14th January, the F2007 was unveiled in Maranello. It was the last car to date to take a Ferrari driver, Kimi Raikkonen to be precise, to the world championship crown.

The car won 9 of the 17 races, six of them – Australia, France, Great Britain, Belgium, China and Brazil – with Kimi and three – Bahrain, Spain and Turkey – with his team-mate, Felipe Massa. On top of that, there were a further 13 podium finishes, for a total of 22 out of a total of 34, as well as 29 finishes in the top eight, accumulating 204 points, which meant the the Scuderia took the Constructors’ title, the last time the team won both championships. Apart from this, the F2007 secured 9 pole positions and 12 fastest race laps, confirming that it really was an amazing car.

Hope we can at least get close to that again in 2014, even without Felipe!

Amazing that we have fallen so far off the pace in these years. But because we have done well before we can do well again. We just need the right ingredients to make it possible.

Sure, it kept us close. Kimi didn't win it, Ramilton lost it.

That's a tad harsh Lou, regardless of Lewis chucking it off the road, Kimi still had to win the final two races, and claw back a 17pt deficit, he drove really well in '07, he was right on it till the very end of the final race, credit where it's due, I think Kimi very much won it in '07 in the final race of a very exciting season, don't let your memory of the seemingly unmotivated Kimi in '09 cloud the reality of '07...

Oh, and you could easily argue that had McLaren not stolen info from Ferrari they wouldn't have been as competitive in '07 anyway, but that's a whole other debate...

Agree with Tobes on this one, and we haven't really managed to field such a competitive car since then 2007/8 either, which has impacted on both Fernando and Felipe fighting a losing battle in recent years. As for Kimi, I'm sure he'll be highly motivated to be competitive with Fernando, I just hope that the car will be up to it.
