McLaren is happy to wait for Peter Prodromou to complete his contract with Red Bull before joining the team.
Team principal Martin Whitmarsh confirmed in Japan that Prodromou would be returning to the team, with his contract at Red Bull set to expire in 2015. Although McLaren released Paddy Lowe to join Mercedes early this year, Christian Horner said Red Bull would not be doing similar with Prodromou and McLaren managing director Jonathan Neale said the team was willing to wait.
"Peter's a great guy and he's an important part of their operation," Neale said. "I can't see any incentive for Red Bull to release him early. We'd be very happy to have him here starting tomorrow morning but we fully respect Red Bull's position; as we do when we're recruiting anybody from another organisation. They know that, we understand the position with Red Bull and we fully respect Christian's position. Peter's a key part of their operation at the moment, we look forward to welcoming him here."
Asked if there was any negotiation between the teams, Neale said there wasn't but didn't rule out Red Bull changing its mind.

So it is obvious that Prodromou isn't the genius behind the suspension trick ...McLaren is not counting on Red Bull to release its chief aerodynamicist Peter Prodromou early despite its deal with him.
It emerged during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend that Prodromou, a key part of technical chief Adrian Newey's set-up, had agreed to leave Red Bull for McLaren at the end of his current contract in 2015.
Red Bull made it clear that it was in no hurry to let Prodromou go, and McLaren managing director Jonathan Neale said during a Vodafone teleconference that his team had no expectation of an early transfer.
"Peter's a great guy and he's a core part of their organisation," he said.
"I can't see any incentive for Red Bull to release him early.
"We'd be happy if he was starting first thing tomorrow morning, but we do fully respect Red Bull's position as we do when we're recruiting anybody from another organisation.
"Peter's a key part of their operation at the moment and we look forward to welcoming him here."
But Neale said he would not rule out a change of heart by Red Bull further down the line.
"Who knows what will happen over the course of a year, but the timing is Red Bull's and it's up to them to decide, not for McLaren," he added.
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.
Since it's raining, here's from Wednesday. Kimi's 15th lap;
10:03 Raikkonen hits the front once more, shaving one tenth from Bottas's mark to drop down to a 1m38.272s.
Sutil and Rosberg together have more of laps like the rest summed up ... this is impressive ... also Germans can build an engine ...German affair
It is a German affair on track at the moment. Nico Rosberg is on a longer run and he has been joined by countryman Adrian Sutil. They have the circuit to themselves.
Damn ... Sutil is now Sauber Ferrari... sorry ...

Rosberg already on 1.38.1, but not enough info about track conditions/tyres etc?
This maybe has been posted earlier or maybe not.
From Autosport, Gary Anderson
-The Ferrari F1 F14 T sounds a lot different to the other cars under braking. Why is this?
"-It is incredibly smooth on the downchanges. Everyone else is blipping the throttle a lot more and it's difficult to say why the Ferrari is so smooth in comparison.
All the cars have a zero torque loss upshift, seamless shift, but nobody has done that on the downshifts. With the ERS recharging from the rear wheels and the need to downchange under braking, it now might be a good idea.
We don't know for sure, but perhaps Ferrari is ahead of the game with such technology."
I don't know exactly what this will mean if it's for better performance and driveability or better fuel efficiency, maybe both, sounds pretty encouraging though.
Felipe made interesting comments regarding his new team's hospitality services, comparing it to his time in Italy. He said that he will buy Williams a new coffee machine![]()

Fernando should put in some really long runs today.......even if he can't get to the top of the timesheets, he should at least reach the top of the lap count! btw, you guys think we are really not focusing on pace today and rather concentrating on engine performance and other variables?!
09:47 Alonso just had a huge moment on the kink approaching the final hairpin, but he has now gone fourth, 1m40.194s
09:51 Worth noting that Alonso set his time on the Pirelli wet, whereas the top times have been coming on the intermediate. Different programmes obviously being tried by the teams.
Hop Ferrari try and do atleast of couple of long runs..![]()

I Will End My Career At Ferrari...

I Will End My Career At Ferrari...
Ros. did 49 laps, Alo 16 !!!!!
Renault made some adjustments? Caterham did 19 laps so far, or is it because of the low temp/rain they can drive longer without problems?
10:33 Alonso heads out. Ferrari seems to be following quite a different programme to the Mercedes teams, but it would be nice to see what laptime he could do.
Not really hopeful, but let's wait and see!
