If this is true, that this is the way Fernando is working I have to say I'm pretty impressed. If he is spinning the wheels on purpose just to give an exaggerated peak in the telemetry data to show where the car is weak it would be a bit amazing.
I want to see Gary's face as he said that. I bet he wasn't able to contain the laughter. That is a nonsense comment. I am surprised Alonso doesn't drive the car at 10 mph if this is the case, as it was a little slow last year. You know, just to show the car is slow.

I bet he is loving this, being paid by Autosport to spraff random words about any car that is leading the timesheets.

To me Autosport is starting to look a little bit like the "BILD" in Germany, just wild speculations and nonsense.

Yea I think he is loosing the plot or senility is catching up on him. Another option is that he is suffering from JackieStewartitis (the plague of verbal diarrhea and liking the sound of his own voice)

12:44 Magnussen sets a new personal best, but stays third, just as Alonso lights up the timing screens by going fastest of all in sector one...

All those who are saying it is a Renault issue (most likely Vettel and Bull Fans) should explain why a team like Caterham did 49 laps with Kobayashi so far???
It is most likely RB and their Test Team TR whom are struggling so far ... who wonders? same family same hereditary disease ...
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

Caterham is running with a 'low power' engine mapping and are down 150hp.
    Probably they've turned ERS off...

They are trying to install the new engine in the same bodywork, in order that they can have the same aerodynamic advantage. But sadly they have forget that it is another F1 era.

    Jerez Testing (finally)

    From yesterday. F1 Fanatic

Out of sight, another engine fires up in the pit lane. A small group of spectators inside turn one clap and whistle: it’s Fernando Alonso, making his first appearance at Jerez in two years.

In marked contract to Hamilton, Alonso is really leaning on the F14 T. He runs deep at turn two on his first attempt, then fires the Ferrari down the hill. The flat-faced red car is not what you’d call attractive but it makes a welcome break from its dull-coloured rivals and their snigger-inducing noses.

More importantly as far as Alonso is concerned, it seems to be a willing partner to his driving ambitions. He comes back into view and aims the car at the apex of turn two, punches down the gears, and the F14 T obliges with the crisp turn-in he favours.
The Ferrari is the most pleasant of the three to listen to, while the Renault appears too infrequently to pass judgement on. The Mercedes sounds great at full song, but emits a gruff burble on part-throttle.

Christian Horner admits Red Bull has hit “numerous” issues during the first test at Jerez after ending its running for the week.

Red Bull managed just 21 laps in total over the four days of testing, with Sebastian Vettel completing 11 and Daniel Ricciardo 10. With the team having been unable to resolve its problems at the circuit it called an end to its running early on Friday and Horner admits there is not one single problem which needs resolving.

“It's been a very difficult test,” Horner said. “We have had numerous Renault issues as well as chassis cooling issues, which have affected our progress.

“However, despite the lack of mileage, what we have managed to learn shows that the problems should be solvable for the next test in Bahrain. Part of the purpose of this early test was to learn about any issues ahead of the start of the season and there will now be a lot of focus on the dyno over the next few weeks.”

Race engineering co-ordinator Andy Damerum hinted that Friday's running was curtailed by a new problem to the ones which have restricted mileage on previous days.

“We did seven laps and every time Daniel went out we made improvements to the control of the engine,” Damerum said. “We were also making fixes to the issues that have arisen from our side and we have made progress there.

“However, we then discovered a mechanical issue with the car and after investigation it became clear we would not be able to fix this in time to run in the afternoon, so the decision was taken to retire early, take the data we have amassed and work towards the next test in Bahrain. Two weeks is a long time in Formula One and we and I'm sure Renault will work flat out now to solve the problems we've been having.”

What's the story behind if I'm allowed to ask
just for information - no relation to F1 Fanatic in any case ...

14:06 Alonso is tucked into Sutil's slipstream down the main straight, and duly dives down the inside under braking for Turn 1.

He is getting in the zone....
