    Jerez Testing (finally)

Jerez testing thread....Kimi will be driving for the first two days with Alonso taking the helm of the F14T in the last two days. I believe their is no live coverage however Sky will be doing something at 9am and also at 9pm with Teds Notebook (probs some poor analysis work). Finally, lets all try to keep calm whatever and not the doom and gloom of last year...however hard haha! Pirelli have announced the following:

Pirelli have confirmed the Jerez circuit will be artificially watered on Friday in order to allow for wet running.

This week the teams will take to the Spanish circuit for the first of the three pre-season tests.

The four days of action kick off on Tuesday in what is expected to be chilly conditions.

And although there is a possibility of rain during the week, should it not come before Friday the track will be artificially watered on the final day.

"The new regulations stipulate that one of the pre-season test days will be dedicated to wet weather testing of our new Cinturato intermediate and wet tyres," said Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery.

"This is scheduled for the final day at Jerez, in order to give the teams experience of a wide range of conditions as soon as possible as they refine their 2014 cars."

Pirelli announced they had also brought with them a special one-off 'winter' tyre to Jerez to compensate for the low temperatures.

Pirelli stated: "This is a hard compound that has been optimised to work well even in low temperatures, reducing the risk of graining (which is a common characteristic of cold weather running)."

In previous years, they include some pictures of the cars every now and then in their live commentary. But of course there are other site that focus on posting pictures and they are better site to view pictures of all the cars. I forgot what is the name of the site, hopefully someone knows the link.

I hope we can find good pace, good rear grip, and a reliable chassis in Jerez this week. If we are able carry over one trait from the F138 I pray its the reliability of the Type 056 V8, and the F138 as a whole. I think teams will come to terms with the new formula in good time but I could see overall durability being a big factor for many teams as the season gets underway in Melbourne and Sepang, hopefully those teams are Renault and Merc powered. Go Red Cars!!

I don't expect to see many laps on the first day as they need to do all kinds of installation laps and checks etc. I'm going to be positively surprised if there are no engine explosions this week for any team.

"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

Anyone found any site with live timing? Like f1tests.info was last year. It was great to just check the times especially with those more important long runs. :)

EDD STRAW, our scout in the pitlane this morning, reports that the Mercedes fired up again and rolled halfway out of the garage, only for its engine to stop. The W05 was promptly wheeled back in and hidden behind screens.

    here we go :)))
