12500 IS probably max RPM, even if they are allowed to turn 15000, running those RPM would need more fuel than it's allowed. All engines are rumored to put out max power in the 11-12k rpm range.

Does anyone know what the regulations say about max. RPM? Read somewhere that they can easily run 15K but is it allowed?

Even if its the 1st practice test and even if he's only driving the F14-T for the 1st time, I hate seeing Fernando not at the top of the time sheets!

Alo is on the jerez spec tire, so we aint gonna see no top times.
Would be great to see Ferrari strap on a pair of softs n blaze it..They going to have to do that
    sooner or later anyway.

Plus, with the fuel restriction, it could be that 1:24/1:25 is what they need to do to finish a race!!!

I have a feeling this Magnussen-Button rivalry is gonna be McLaren's downer this season.....does 2007 ring any bells?!!!

yes it is allowed but the technicians say that the sweetspot of the engine is around 10.000-11.000 RPM so they probably wont drive at 15K.

I have a feeling Red Bull have told TorroRosso to carry on testing around the circuit, knowing full well the car will break down to stop the others teams from testing.

They say it's Red Bull's problem and not Renault power unit, but I don't see Torro Rosso and Caterham having a good time so far either. It seems like Renault have their own problems too

#F1Jerez Red Bull problem is a packaging problem. Battery and ERS elements are too close to heat sources and suffer quick overheating
If that is the case then their current aero package will be compromised.

Looking on the completed lap table: looks much better than Monday ... wow
Merc + Ferrari engines far by lead ... seems a good move from Williams also to join Mercedes ...
and Magnussen seems quick ... not bad thou
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

If it continues this way I would imagine FIA step up and add some extra test days, at least for Renault engine cars. I know its early days but reading some teams not be able to go for a proper lap is just sad.
Meanwhile, it either says something or just nothing that Alonso, Schumacher and Raikkonen have reputedly spared a F1 podium on five occasions and Fernando has stood on the top step on every occasion. He's F1's first among equals. (PG)

Without improving the cooling and probably redesigning the systems layout they will not have a car at all.

Very odd that they find themselves in this situation. Complete misinterpretion of data/design?

The more and more I read about mclarens suspension the more I get worried, just read that it required a complete redesign of gear box and wishbone brackets etc....I highly doubt this innovation will be copied anytime soon!

They shouldn't copy it but trust one's own design and go from there.

2.2 seconds off Magnussen's time. I hope that the testing programme is centering on other aspects than quick times at this point.

Force India is the only Mercedes engined team slower than Ferrari, I sincerely hope this means nothing, but that engine looks good...
Massa in the Williams is almost two seconds faster than Alo. I hate meaningless testing times...
