Nice info Avantifer12, good to see all the driver lineups & links to sites all in one place!

It is always nice to see our cars have a good pace & by good I mean fastest . I will be happier though to have a productive session with the team learning the maximum about the car & turning up any shortcomings there may be, so there will be plenty of time to fine tune things.

Let the mercs have all the attention in test sessions, just bring the results ( ) in Melbourne!!

It should be Alonso first and Kimi second. I seriously doubt Kimi will miss it.

Personal mood of next test session can be summed up with one word: excited ...
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

This track will be the real test for all reliability. Lets hope the F14T will make it through unscratched

Bahrain test begins Wednesday: Alonso to start

Sakhir, 18 February –Scuderia Ferrari is now in Bahrain and team personnel are preparing the garage at the Sakhir circuit, where the second pre-season test gets underway tomorrow. There are four days of track action, running up to Saturday.

With the track located on the edge of the desert, temperatures are ideal for testing, currently hovering around the 20 degree mark. Less pleasant is the wind which is blowing hard today, bringing quite a bit of sand onto the track. One cannot therefore expect to see any particularly fast times on the first day, as the surface will be rather dirty. Fernando Alonso will be first on track for Scuderia Ferrari, running on the first two days, before handing over to Kimi Raikkonen for Friday and Saturday.

The emphasis over the next four days will be mainly on checking all the systems and control parameters of the F14 T. In addition, the programme will include set-up work, helped by the fact that Sakhir is a more representative circuit for comparing the data obtained over the past few days in the simulator, as well on the tyre front. The engineers will also be relying on the expertise of Alonso and Raikkonen to move forward with the development of the car. Finally, great attention will be paid to the behaviour of the 059/3 power unit, which has been the focus of a lot of work in the last few weeks. In fact, the power unit has to be presented to the FIA to be signed off as homologated by 28 February.

F1 tyre supplier Pirelli has confirmed that it will be bringing additional rubber to this week's group test in Bahrain.

The second official four-day session of the year takes place in the desert between Wednesday and Saturday this week [19-22 February], and the Bahrain International Circuit will also host the third and final test later this month. The warm ambient conditions of around 20 degrees or more are set to provide a marked contrast to the first test of the year in Jerez, which featured low temperatures and rain, and all eleven F1 teams are expected to be present, after Lotus opted not to travel to Spain.

As they continue to optimise the interaction between their radical new cars – with 1.6-litre turbocharged engines and advanced energy recuperation systems – and the latest generation of Pirelli tyres, which feature new compounds and constructions this year, the squads will look to improve both reliability and performance, with the BIC providing a wide variety of speeds and corners with high longitudinal demands that address most aspects of a tyre's behaviour.

“The first test of the year in Jerez was all about the teams getting their first taste of a very different set of technical regulations so, as expected, running was limited and evaluating tyres was not a priority,” Pirelli's motorsport director Paul Hembery confirmed, “On top of that, winter conditions in Europe – even in southern Spain – are not representative of the race conditions we will generally encounter throughout the rest of the season. In Bahrain, we're expecting better weather and more running, which will allow ourselves and the teams to assimilate more data and knowledge of the tyres.”

While teams will be allowed 30 sets of tyres apiece for the Bahrain test - from an overall maximum of 135 sets for all testing this year – they will have to split these between the various slick compounds on offer. Three types of slick will be available at BIC - hard, medium and soft – although, on top of this, the drivers will also be able to test the 'winter hard' compound, which Pirelli created to ensure a rapid warm-up even at low temperatures.

The teams have asked to try this tyre, originally designed for use at Jerez, in Bahrain in order to assess how it performs in higher ambient temperatures. The 'winter' version will be recognisable by having no sidewall markings, whereas the 'standard' 2014 hard carries orange colouring.

Pirelli is also bringing an extra set of medium tyres per team to Bahrain. While these will have the usual 2014 construction and compound, they are actually considered to be 'prototypes' as their purpose is to test tyre behaviour without warming blankets, which will be banned from 2015 onwards.

Of the 30 sets at each team's disposal this week, 22 sets of the four slick options - hard, winter hard, medium and soft – have been selected by Pirelli in accordance with the teams. The remaining eight sets are chosen by the teams themselves, in order to suit their individual run plans.

Crucially, it was the only team to complete a proper race simulation, with Nico Rosberg managing to go five laps beyond the 69-lap race distance at Jerez.

While this put the marque's works team, and Mercedes-powered Williams, Force India and McLaren, in an encouraging position only in Bahrain will the watching world start to see any hint of a competitive order.

Ferrari also showed well, particularly with the apparent drivability of its power unit, meaning that the Scuderia could also emerge as a pacesetter in Bahrain.

As for the Renault teams, their struggles in Spain mean that there is significant room for improvement. If the engines run well in Bahrain, the teams' so-far unseen potential will also begin to emerge.

lol it's only a testing session.
I'm eager to see the new aero upgrades that Ferrari are going to bring to this test. Oh and they'll probably try to run the engines at full revs for the first time. There are also some power-unit upgrades but won't be visible to the naked eye.

We can hope they will. After watched this slight outdated video (pre Jerez) with Scarbs and Peter Windsor talking about 2014 power units I'm not convinced they ever will run at 15.000RPM so full revs is a question of definition. Interesting "whisper" Peter mention at 7:45 that one engine manufacturer says that 15.000 RPM coincides with the worst possible vibration of the engine. cough *Renault*
