Yeah. To ensure real life correlates they use 1st iteration parts rather than fabricate complex ones that are a few stages on as if these complex parts did not work more time would be wasted. I qouldnt be surprised if they add ever more complex parts after ensuring they correlate at each stage they are added. They need detail of every part in a more thorough manner than the past as laat year started great it was 6 races and 3 months into last season post Monaco where it came out things were not right.
You must first learn to pass a ball before you learn how to shoot for goal.
That is all that is happening here, it is easier to check correlation and issues with simple aero and then keep checking as the aero gets more complex to determine if correlation continues.
The good thing is that they can still test many other area's of the car while checking the correlation but yes it would be better if we didn't have this problem to check to begin with.
This car looks good.mcl2.jpg

Alonso: Bahrain a better marker
Fernando Alonso admits he is developing a growing understanding of this year's car after a successful opening day in Bahrain.
Alonso enjoyed a solid run on Monday, posting 64 laps with only one engine problem throughout, on a day when the team was paying close attention to the F14T's break wire system. His time of 1:37.879 left Alonso top of the timing sheets and he admits the conditions in Sakhir make for a better testing environment than Jerez, which helped the team develop a better knowledge of the car.
"It's nice to be driving again, especially when you have more reference points compared to the previous time, which means you get a better feeling for the car," Alonso said. "We are also at a track that is more representative, with normal temperatures, where it's been easier to understand tyre behaviour."
"We are in a phase where we are discovering things and with every lap, we learn something new. For everyone, there is still a lot to do to be well prepared for Melbourne, so it will be important to make the most of every day we have available to us."

Rosberg stopped on track...Red Flag.
BEN ANDERSON spoke to Ferrari's deputy chief designer Simone Resta about the pressures of making the cars reliable, particularly in terms of heat management.
"It is fair to say I don’t have any real information to judge whether we are compared with the others," he said. "I know that we have invested quite a lot on the front compared to last year knowing that the challenge is more, so we just focused all our effort and tried to improve compared to before."
"I think [yesterday was] a very good day, miles on the track, with long-ish runs, adapting the driver to the car and vice versa, good day of testing, good first day of testing. No major issues, nothing major to report."

Looks like Red Bull will be late again - at least 1 hour delay till first run. New parts arriving.
Any developments on our side of the garage, guyz?

It wont be any visible ones cos aerodynamic parts are coming for a second test in Bahrain...

I guess the german media use the same source but also on german's motorsport-total.com they brought a interview with Simone Resta where he also told that this week is more a "learn about the car and the behaviour". Especially he mentioned "Brake by wire" which need to be discovered by the team and especially the drivers ...
So I don't expect to be on top of the list ...
Hopefully one week will be enough to explore the real speed of the car ...
Edit(h) says:
" I think it is still too early to say how pleased we are. , We learn still added when it comes to how the F14 T behaves in different situations ," says Ferraris deputy chief designer Simone Resta and emphasizes: " We're just trying to collect as much data as possible . "
In particular, focus at Ferrari until Saturday this week , the electronic brake pedal ( brake-by -wire ) and the electronics. " Both areas we have during the past two weeks devoted considerable attention ," notes Resta. So the tests are intended to give this week mainly provides an indication of how well harmonizes the new powertrain in conjunction with the elements Brake -by-wire and electronic with the drivers Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen .
The chassis performance one wants to devote the second Bahrain test ( February 27-March 2 ) . "This will be the next step .. At the moment we just want to unwind kilometers ," Resta formulated the approach to the coming days and announces : . " Last Updates for the Grand Prix of Australia will arrive on the next Bahrain Test Only then we will deal with it , to go the performance of the car on the ground. "
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

Alonso's first timed lap of the day also makes him the first person to dip under 1m38s this morning. That puts him fastest.
