Is Alonso running the larger outlet over the exhausts. Maybe this is needed to allow full use of ers? Compromise aero for full use of engine. Maybe not but its possible?
I have a feeling Ferrari will not have top quali pace at the start of the year as they have been concentrating on correlation and every detail of pu as better to sacrifice the 1 lap pace at the start to get best direction for development thus having the best foundations to build on. Race pace maybe different last year Lotus qualified 8th in Australia and easily won the race. This is just a thought and I would not be shocked if I am completley wrong, just one of numerous possibilities.
I'm not talking about those 2 secs. That would be insane. But believing that we are sanbagging... that's not much better. We always speak about sanbagging, when we are not the fastest. How many times did it work out? And why would they do that this year, with so little time to test? They surely have to try to run the engine to the max to know, what it can handle during quali.
After all this talk about "we are bulding cars, not planes" I would think Ferrari would come with an engine which would be unrivaled. Or "teams with their own engines will have big advantage (or something like that)" I expected Ferrari to use that advantage.
I hope I'm being this negative piece of **** for no reason and somehow I'm missing something.
IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN DO IT - ENZO FERRARI
Fabiano Vandone: Ferrari is working on consumption without seeking the benefit to the qualifier, the pole is not essential
Btw, look at Sauber75 laps so far and counting!

Just a thought: RBR and Lotus have been causing a lot of red flags, when we arrive in Melbourne, there will probably be a lot of red flags as well, so we will "loose" a lot of laps.. Doesn't this have an implication on strategy?

Yep...maybe we are in fact running at the maximum allowed at this point, and none can say exactly why....we therefore have to wait for the real deal in Austarlia!
Cheers
Fernando 340 km/h. Seems the engine is on max or very close to it, since no one got near it.
So where is he loosing time?????
Well wasn't it reported that Alonso Ferrari was doing something like 338kmh down the straight. Now two things explain this.
Either we don't have much downforce on the car so less drag equals good top speed
Or our engine is mighty.
Strange 5 kmp/h more peak speed than Bottas on his best lap but 7 tenths down. I got it last year when RB had lower top speed but were quicker but 50KPH is a huge amount.
Makes you start to think about setups as well. Fot example some cars are testing low downforce others high downforce for differwnt tracks and to get the gears righ which are fixed for the year. If so times truly are going to be unreliable.
Ignore me Bottas only 6 kph down I cannot read.

I wonder why we have taken monkey seat off again..
100% Hamilton will go for a qually run today to compare with rosberg
The straight line difference might just be gear ratios. Williams have probably the shortest of anyone, hence the better lap time but lower top speed. Would guess Ferrari went with longer gears, not hitting the limiter at the back straight unlike maybe Williams.

12:46 We can now also indicate the reason for the spin by Sebastian Vettel. Front brake disc exploded.
Indeed, gear ratios are very important. If you mess it up now, you will have big problems during season. Like we saw with RBR last couple of year, low gear ratios are good, if you start from the front, you can immediatly build a gap. But if you start from the back or pack, it's hard to overtake. Long gear ratios aren't perhaps the quickest on a lap, but I think better, at least for us, during a race. If we are for instance 10-20kph faster on a straight, this could help us during a race to overtake

Red Flag.Grosjean.
Disappointing; 2009 to 2016...
