I just find it a tad bit arrogant the notion that our engine is superior because we are Ferrari. That kind of thinking leads to the downfall of companies because they underestimate their competition and by the time they realize it, it's already too late.

I do agree. People track side have commented that the Ferrari is geared longer than some teams, coming out of the slower turns. What we don't know yet is what those profiles look at the top of the gear box for anyone. There's real variety this year. Some aren't shifting below 4th gear even in the hairpins, while some Renault teams have been reported to be shifting down to 1st. Seems there are many different ways to get the power on to the circuit.

Every team has a joker and can once make a change in their gear ratios, i have read.

We're still seeing flow viz so we're still doing correlation work. We need more testing time than others if we're often going to spend a good proportion of our time just doing this. We also revert back to older spec parts which isn't a sign of confidence. I just hope all this correlation work isn't compromising the rest of our programme too much.
When do u see us reverting back to old spec ?

    F1 show biz 2016 :
Toto - "Ferrari are a real threat" .... Nico - "Awesome, everything is just awesome" .....Lulu - "Mental strength man, lifestyle man, I'll drive at 400% as ever man".... and then suddenly a wild Bull out of nowhere slams into a Ferrari.

but you cant make the change and then revert back to the old spec, say for example coming up to Monza and spa! also some very interesting penalty schemes....advise you to watch teds note book day 2 first 10min! One of which is a drive through when you want to come into do a pit stop, do your work etc change tyres, BUT sit their for 5 seconds, however if you have already done your pit stops they add it on to the end of the race time!

Where has someone commented that our engine is best by default just because it's a Ferrari engine? I don't think Ferrari would be so arrogant.

I'm not saying someone has said that. Obviously one can't tell what someone is privately thinking just saying it's wrong to think along those lines if you think along those lines.

After spending quite some time in the pits, Fernando Alonso has finally headed out for a couple more laps but that makes only 29 so far for Ferrari

I'm guessing they are changing a few parts and adjusting the set up to work best with the different parts configuration. I'd like to see more short runs. It may or may not give a better idea as to where we stand. If we can dip into the low 1:34's that would be good.

Agree, but it is not bad to be mentally prepared for the possibility of Ferrari being not competitive. Otherwise this place could turn into hell come Australian qualy.

I have a feeling that Ferrari went conservative and they do aim just for reliability to get some good points in the first few races with podiums and wins coming later.

Another red flag due to Lotus. At least RB dont come out again when they stop. Is there not a go kart track at Bahrain so Lotus can leave the big track for the grown ups?

Its a completely new rear wing. They are using the odd flap tried friday with a gurney flap glued to it,you can see the slit though the whole flap, and the upper part of the endplate has been smoothed out to cure separaton, and of course the new engine cover,so all new parts.

The problems continue: It appears as if Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes has suffered some sort of shutdown in the pitlane...

If Ferrari can finish the 1st 2 races they could win both no matter the pace.

If you look at everything together, Williams has build a very good car I think. No red flags, a lot of laps, good times..

    from Sky:

"I think that unfortunately Ferrari doesn't have single lap speed like Mercedes or Williams. They are to far behind them, over one second! Didn't we see that in last few years too? Weakest area that Ferrari didn't improve as it seems."

Bottas went on ss tyres about 15 mi s ago. What times did he do? Clearly not better than his earlier 34.7. If in 35s on ss it's no different to Raikkonen yesterday so shows no matter the tyres and times each run a team makes has a different agenda. Still only Merc and Williams have gone for a time.
