Hamilton set his best time on softs. He used super softs at the end but made mistakes on both laps. Source - AMUS
I would like get back to gear ratios of Williams. It can be the case that they did a gamble and take very short gears so they can be very quick on slow tracks and get big points but than loose big time on fast tracks. On Bahrain circuit acceleration is very important and that could be the reason why they are so fast in qualy sim. Plus that they could underweight car a little...
And I am comforting myself with possible scenario of Mercedes-Ferrari engine war. If Mercedes really have 50-70hp more than us, they can use that difference only in qualifications because of restricted fuel consumption in race. In theory more hp means bigger fuel consumption and there comes Ferrari with less hp lighter engine and better fuel consumption, so we should have better race pace. I pray this will be the case!
So far it looks like we are at least behind Mercedes and I find this the only way to beat them in first fue races.
And if I think better tires could play a part here too! Anyone have some info of how kind on tires is our car?
By saying mercedes is a monster and we are smaller, I believe Stefano is referring to Ferrari as an engine supplier. Let's face it guys developing turbo engines is their bread and butter. They have started delivering ERS with ICE in road cars of the highest order...look at the P1. They are supposed to have a head start in this, not counting all the extra data they have from all the teams using their engines. Ferrari will need a bit more time to get the different power sources balanced out...you need crazy amounts of data for that and even more people processing it.
I do think LdM will let Stefano go this time. Stefano's statement to me even seems a bit desperate....LdM will certainly not like his team principal calling Ferrari small.
It does not matter what he meant by saying it. It 's all about words and references.
You do not call Ferrari small when you are the Principal of Ferrari and when you are saying anything about F1. It's that simple.
I really try to stay calm on this one but honestly this is a big mistake on his behalf.
And yes, LdM will not like it, for one it shows a certain way of thinking that is not suited for being the Principal of this team.
"If someone said to me that you can have three wishes, my first would have been to get into racing, my second to be in Formula 1, my third to drive for Ferrari" - Gilles Villeneuve
"If I was driving for Red Bull [from 2008] probably I would have more championships, but because they were dominating between 2010 and 2014 probably I would never have driven for Ferrari. I am very happy and very proud to drive for Ferrari, all my time there.

Amus: Ferrari play poker face... ferrari fastest of all in top speed...2 sec behind ? not realistic.I believe pecking order is Mercedes- Ferrari-Williams/Redbull/mclaren/force india.Alonso is not frustated on all of his interview, if he say that we will be in the fight believe him :).
Maybe we should buy Merc engines.
Forza Ferrari
From AMuS:
Ferrari holds back on purpose?
Is Ferrari as in recent years again before a comeback? The answers in the paddock vary widely. Some believe that the gap really is this second. The others can imagine that Ferrari has not revealed all the cards. The usually skeptical Alonso sprayed too much confidence. And at the round analysis revealed some inconsistencies.
Ferrari has never packed all peaks on one lap. If you swept with full top speed over the finish line, was driven deliberately slowly to the rest of the round. In a Sektorbestzeit you could bet that the other two sectors in comparison to fell off. In a discipline Ferrari is already tip. Alonso managed with 339.6 km / h the highest top speed.

maybe we were sandbagging, we try to do qualy run firstly to have god run in first two sectors and then back off to keep the prefomance for ourselves and than in next lap easy in first two sectors and then push in the last one.

Domenicali when he said Ferrari is smaller than Mercedes, was talking about number of people working in the engine department:
Mecedes has twice as many people in the engine department as we do
