Thumbs up It happened today – 1 March

Twelve years ago today saw the start of the 2002 World Championship, which turned out to be the shortest contest in Formula 1 history, given that Michael Schumacher wrapped up his fifth title as early as July.

The superiority of the Ferrari could be seen right from the Friday of the Australian Grand Prix, with the two F2001s clearly dominant in both free practice sessions. The F2001, although almost a year old, was still capable of dominating the scene, even if it was not the most up to date car.

As from the Brazilian Grand Prix, the F2002 replaced it to become one of the most successful Ferraris of all time, winning 14 out of the 15 races it contested that season, equivalent to to a 93% success rate.

Actually in 2002 the Grand Prix was on Sunday the 2nd March - I know this because it's my Birthday today. 1st March and I was in Melbourne for the GP in 2001 and my birthday was on the Thursday. 2002 was a leap year so 1st March 2002 was on the Saturday.

Well back in 1992 who would've thought that in 2002 we'd be winning every race and all the championships? There is always hope. Who knows what the future has in store for us.
